Good morning!
Joe, I've heard some people say that coffee is a "cup of anxiety" but that really isn't true for everyone, especially not me. I have tried to not drink so much in the evening though since it might affect my sleep.
I skipped bowling and the policy is to take 10 points off my average so I bowled 145 each game. The team won two games so for the third week in a row we're in a tie with another team for 2nd place.
It's going to be sunny in the low to mid 80's today. My favorite time of year. Trying to get some stuff done so I can go to the beach later with best friend and yoga this morning.
Have a great day.
Skies are hanging gloomy with dark clouds, but so far, no rain. I think the rest of the country is under all kinds of storm watches and warnings, but according to last night's weather forecast(s) a lot of the ugly weather will bypass us or just edge past us with a little rain. At least it isn't cold!
Was hoping to get my hair cut this week, and hoped to have a separate appointment on another day for Nannie. However, 'we' have an appt next Tuesday. Hubby won't make his appt at the same time as Nannie's. I TRIED to get separate appts for her and me, but the hairdresser has the time next Tuesday, so that's when we'll go. Funny how we don't want to hang out there with Nannie. She gets hers done first and then waits for me to get trimmed. I did take the first appt once and she griped later about having to wait to have hers done. Poor Pitiful Pearl.
I completely forgot that I have to send my "ASUS" laptop back to the factory, because it completely shut off right in the middle of using it, during the first week I had it. I hope I sent in the warranty info (!). I have been using my old laptop and it is telling me that after June I won't be able to ....?....do something-or-other on it. How helpful is THAT?! Ugh. So anyway, I'll have to add it to my brain/notebook so I can remember to "git'er done".
It's odd, but I can get up at 3 or 4 AM and have a cup of coffee, and fall right back to sleep; BUT if I have if it between supper and bedtime, it keeps me awake. Weird.
It is 2:45 PM, and I guess I'd better go upstairs and take a shower. I prefer taking my showers in the afternoon. Hubby takes his at night. Nannie doesn't shower because she can't step over the edge of the tub. Last shower she had was a couple of years ago when she was at that nursing home.
She washes herself at her bathroom sink, and so far as I know, she has no stink. If she has to have help w/ bathing in the future, I will hire an aide to bathe her. It makes my arms and wrists and lower back ache to give her 'personal care', and this is a funky thing to say, but that woman couldn't spread her legs apart to save her soul.....ie, can't (or won't?) separate her knees sufficiently to get certain places bathed. I pity anyone who has ever had to or will have to catheterize her! It's not that I haven't had patients with her particular aversion to having herself washed 'down there', or cathed, but I sure don't want to be sticking the top my head down to hold her (R) knee apart from the (L) knee, which I would be pushing back with my left elbow. Yes, I have had to do that to other patients. If you don't have a second person to help with that, you do whatever's necessary. I had a nursing instructor who used to say, "A lot of times you're going to have to figure out how to accomplish procedures without assistance." There was a woman who had tight knees AND used to rock her body, and she was one of the ones on whom the students got to practice cathing. That was back in the days of full-time indwelling foleys. The instructor had a kind of dry sense of humor, and when she would come into a classroom to pick a student for this task, she would point her finger at a student and say "C'mon, it's time to try your luck with 'the moving target'."
[okay, so much for 'cooter' talk.]
Got to see the one contestant I wanted to see (on American Idol) because Nannie did finally go to bed last night. The baseball game was dull, and we were losing to the Nats 6-2, so I turned it over to the other station. Don't know if there is a game on tonight or not.
So, to the shower I go----------------->
Hello. Another unsettle weather day today, and a bit on the cool side. I deferred bike riding until tomorrow due to the wind. I saw the personal trainer this morning, and she thinks my issue is very tight hamstrings that are compressing nerves all up and down my right leg. So she worked on some knots and recommended routine massage therapy, so I got that booked. And she gave me some times about using a tennis ball to roll under my hamstrings. I stopped and saw eldest ds who is working from home. He broke his clavicle and is supposed to keep his right arm in a sling for 4 weeks. And he is pretty grumpy about it. I am doing a little sewing project for him: fixing a blanket for their dog, that I hope will cheer him up.
Stars, I can't help but think that Nannie was sexually assaulted when she was young, just from her remarks and behaviors. And yes, if it comes to it, an aide should help her bathe. I watched Antiques Roadshow last night, and then went to bed. I think I like PBS because of fewer commercials.
I have started to drink more coffee, not sure why. I just really enjoy the taste. I like it dark and strong, made with freshly ground beans in my french press.
I should go to the store, but I have no oomph. I am going to make baked potatoes for dinner, with cheese, sour cream, broccoli and chili to top them. The store will still be there tomorrow.
Afternoon, all!
Joe, very much not a fan of coffee, but I can drink unlimited amounts of caffeine right up until bedtime, and in fact sleep better with more caffeine on board. I'm weird that way, and if anyone ever tries to take my diet Dr. pepper away, there will be blood.
Tweety, I think you've shared your weather with me up north here. Much appreciated- still early April and I'm enjoying the wine on deck.
No Stars, thanks for the reminder I need to get this unruly mop cut!
nursej, I get the no oomph. I may be having DoorDash for dinner instead of cooking...
Rose, I will never, ever, ever take your Dr. Pepper away from you.....because, to me it tastes like cough syrup!! ?
The coffee I have discovered lately and really like is Dunkin BOLD. I have been drinking Dunkin brand, original. Before that we used to drink JFG, but it's hard to find on store shelves. I could get it on line, but since I've been drinking the "BOLD" I'm fine with sticking with that. Hubby drinks Maxwell House.
Nannie's other dgt-in-law brought over an Easter cake today. Stayed her usual 15-20 minutes and left. I was up in my room and stayed there. Wonder how long she'll wait until she comes by again? I think it was 3 months ago that she last stopped by, and brought some New Year's BBQ. Last year, at Nannie's b'day, (Sept) she brought over some beef stew and it was pretty good. The cake at that time was coconut cream. It sat so long on the table (under its cake cover) it started getting spots on it, so we ditched it. Prolly should've put it in fridge, but no room there for a huge cake. Reading back here, it seems that it is every 3 mos she comes by ... But maybe the next visit will be closer to July 4th. I dunno. Who cares, anyway?

Hi Tweety Dianah Stars
Was a pretty good day at work despite getting a new case. So far not a lot of extra work due to that coworker being off this week
Feeling a bit calmer since switching from regular to 2/3 regular 1/3 decaf coffee. Will eventually switch to half and half and see how that works
Rest of the day was pretty quiet, nothing out of the ordinary
Today should be pretty much the same, although the rest of the week will be busy with Easter related stuff
Should be fairly warm today, up to 70, although it's back down to the 40s after that
