tubal reversal and regret it

Published

I had a tubal done about 15 years ago when I was only 20 years old while I was having a C-section. I believe that they call it the pomeroy way. I have my hospital report and it doesnt say how much of the tubes was cut. I never have had any problems with getting pregnant and my husbands sperm is fine. lol. My question is would I be better off having a reversal or going with invitro. We are really wanting a baby together. Any advise would be so helpful.

I had a tubal reversal in 2001 and it was successful! I have my beautiful boy, Caleb, because of it. He is almost 4 now. IMO, it is far better to try a reversal before going the IVF route, as long as you are otherwise healthy and your husband is. It is less expensive and you will have multiple tries at conceiving. The only reservation I have on that is that if you would have less than 4 cm of fallopian tube left after the reversal was over, then it would reduce your chances of conceiving. If you have your op report and it doesn't say how much was cut, then I'm at a loss as to how you'd find out? Consult a tubal reversal doc about this, I think. Dr. Berger in North Carolina has an excellent reputation and a large success rate. I would give you the name of my doctor, but unfortunately, he's retired now. I also might suggest that you join a tubal reversal support group, where there are many women in your position. Many prayers and thoughts your way as you decide on this! :)

I'm not sure what this topic has to do with Tennessee nursing, but I think this would be something better discussed with your physician. There probably isn't anyone on these forums with access to your medical records and/or who has experience in reversing a tubal ligation.

These are questions you would need to ask of a reproduction specialist.
