Truman Nursing Application Extension

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Does anyone have any scoop on why Truman College suddenly, little more than a week before the application deadline, extended it for another month? On their Website there is an announcement that the deadline has been extended until March 1. However, they provide no explanation as to why (or how it will affect the decision process and timeline). I highly doubt they don't have enough applicants unless they are rethinking their entrance guidelines, which wouldn't surprise me, but would also be somewhat shady this late in the game. Just wondering if anyone knows of anything going on, or if it's just a ploy to get a bigger pool of applicants.

this whole changing-everything last minute is just ridiculous!!!

i called District office and Truman office. No one answered :\

That totally figures! I use to call all the time...when I was going to apply..and no one ever answered...then I eventually sent an email..and they emailed me back like 3 weeks later..LOL what a joke eh?!! I feel bad for everyone that is applying! What's going on is just really messed up and it's not fair for them to be changing everything like they are after the fact!

Re: the CCC notice that they are reserving 100 spots for KKC and OHC, well I spoke with the district person who is listed there. She said ALL applications are going to be centralized this year. They are holding 100 spots for KKC and OHC students because they don't have a college to go to. I asked if these "reserved" spots meant they were going to take away approx. 25 spots from each program (why don't they have to compete for spaces just like we are doing--they had just as much time to apply as we did and they knew the college had closed its nursing program?). She first said that "no" they were extra spots, but then said that they weren't really sure. It appears that we will be notified of acceptance after May 2nd. They will then allow you one week to determine if you are interested or not.

Oh BOY!

i talked to her too and didn't seem like they EVEN know whats going on haha

Hanwinting, did you get any idea about the 100 spaces? I am fine competing with others, but not them taking our potential spaces. I can't believe this is happening. Why is everything all up in the air? I felt like I was gonna have an axiety attack yesterday!

i dont have more info about the selection process yet. i don't think it is even decided how it is goning to work out. Nursing director seemed clueless. I am not sure about 100 seats thing either.

I agree, the director was not that helpful. My goal is to attend Truman, not Daley or Malcolm X. This waiting is killing me! Having so many unanswered questions doesn't help. Apparently there are 800 seats for over 2K applicants. That 100 seats set aside for OH, and KKC is understandable, but not fair to those who got their applications in on time. I'm starting to feel like applying to CCC's nursing programs was a waste of time.

My goal, also, is to attend Truman. I have been waiting for this. I could have been accepted into a different program last year, but Truman is near my house and is perfect for me. This is all very upsetting.

Definitely frustrating. I placed most of my eggs in CCC's basket. A couple of suburban colleges as well, but we shall see considering I'm out of district. From a financial aspect community college was the best choice for me. But I may be back to the drawing board after this...Trying to remain positive. Good luck to us both!

I placed all my eggs in one--Truman. I think I might need to go back to the drawing board, too. There goes another year. Or maybe not. We're all waiting. Good luck to all of us!
