Hi everyone! I am currently in the day group and I want to be in the night classes. It's going to be so hard to find care for my 2 yr old son if I'm in d day classes. Is anybody interested in switching with me? Tyra emailed me and said that that would be a way to get in the night program. Please let me know if anybody is interested! Please please please! I thank you and my little boy thanks you too! :-)

Thanks Katybeto, for the information about the books! I started buying them section by section.

Does anyone know if we absolutely have to wear the exact style of uniform we're assigned? I understand about the top, but my scrubs for work are exactly the same color, so maybe I can save on the bottoms.

I haven't bought anything yet but I have been pricing everything. According to what I have found it is definitely worth getting things used/online instead of the book store except for the $209 package. Is that what you guys have found? Everything added up to around 209 anyway from what I saw.

I personally don't buy used books. I don't like having people highlight stuff that I find is common sense or not important and then my eyes keep going to that stuff. Anyway...I bought them at the bookstore and wish I would have waited. My mom is paying for me (yes I'm fortunate) but I wish I would have saved her some money. www.cheapesttextbooks.com has new books for sale (and used I believe). I typed in all the ISBN numbers for the largest bundle and could have gotten all NEW books for $200 cheaper. So...if you have patience to get them all shipped separately and hope you are home when they come...it is worth it if you are trying to save money. Not sure if the extra money was worth the convenience factor of having them all at once and not worrying about catching the UPS guy...I guess you have to weigh the pros and cons. I'm lucky that I don't have to worry about the price...but I still wish I would have saved my mom the money and had them shipped separately.

So far, I've found the same. Though it would be more convenient to buy the bundles from the school bookstore, I've priced out $150 in savings and I'm not done yet. The $209-bundle is the only one that won't budge.

Katy, I wouldn't wait too long. I did that once and the books I wanted went up in price -supply and demand.

Has anyone else noticed that, online, some of the ebooks are actually selling over MSRP?

ANYBODY INTERESTED IN SWITCHING FROM NIGHT TO DAY?

I was put in the day group, and its not what I could do or what I signed up for. I need to be in the night group for my son. Is anybody out there that would want to switch cohorts with me? Thanks!

If you put on your application that you need night classes, then they will switch you back. If you have to, go to the office and make them pull your application and show them. They had me in the night orientation and tried telling me that I either checked no preference or night and there was nothing they could do. I told them I was very thorough on my application and I knew there was no way that I checked anything other than day courses because I work evenings and have for 10 years. She pulled my application and I showed her and she put me into the day. It should workout for you but I know it can be stressful. Hope that helps!!

"I got accepted the first time I applied. I do have a 4.0 in all my pre-reqs and all my co-reqs. And I have taken advanced science classes and already have a bachelors degree. I don't think it's very difficult to get in if you do the work and get good grades. The only thing to keep in mind...they are now having a centralized program...where you apply to the City Colleges of Chicago and if you are accepted...they decide which program you enter (ie. Truman, Daley, Malcolm X). You will only get an invitation to one of the schools and if you accept that is where you go. If you decline, your seat will be given to someone else"

Why would you do Truman's program if you already have a degree? Most hospitals in Chicago now only hire BSNs. Sad but true...

Hey PatGCastro

I saw your message from switching from day class to night class. I happen to be in the night class and need to switch to the day class cause of work. They told me that if I can find someone to switch they would do it for me. Shoot me an e-mail if this works for you. My e-mail is [email protected]. Hopefully this works out great for both of us!

I don't have my heart set on staying here the rest of my life for one. For 2...I plan on going on and getting my masters and using my degree that I already have to bridge over. I have spoken to several masters programs and they told me to get in and get the quickest degree possible and it was kinda pointless to get another bachelors if my goal was to get my masters. I have to work to support myself and don't see the point in paying extra money to get a BSN when the degree I do have is a B.S. in exercise physiology with a business management minor. And to be honest with you...I have seen posts on different hospital websites for RN's that don't say BSN preferred where they do have other jobs posted (on the same site) that say BSN preferred. I know my bachelors is not the equivalent of a BSN...but at the same time...most of the classes that you have to take to get a "BSN" I have taken with a couple exceptions. I am not concerned at all about not being able to find a job after I graduate. I know what I bring to the table and my confidence has always helped me in any situation. Truman is the cheapest, quickest route for me to get to start a career. Would I love to go to Loyola and get a BSN and have the prestige of that school?? Of course I would...but their accelerated BSN basically says you can't work and I don't have $50k to fork out for another degree. And since I already have a bachelors degree...I don't qualify for financial aid (grants).

Hi! Yes, please let's switch! I emailed you and also blind copied you an email I sent to Tyra Ousley. I wanted to know what steps we should take to make the switch happen. This is great!
