Trouble communicating with Spanish patients--thoughts?

Published

There's a course that has started in Dallas called MedLingo. They specialize in educating healthcare professionals in Spanish medical terminologies. Has anyone taken this type of course? Are they helpful for communicating with hispanic patients and families? I also hear they are a good source for credits with some classes worth up to 10.5!

Thoughts?

Neat! I'm interested too!

I am assuming you are referring to Spanish-speaking patients rather than people who are from Spain, right? If so, you may want to check to be sure that the course includes an awareness of the different dialects that are used in various parts of Latin America rather than just European (Castillian) Spanish.

Sounds like a great initiative. If you take the course, come back here on AN and let us all know how it went.
