I start the Nursing Program Fall 2013 at Tri-C. I just wanted to see if I could connect with anyone who will be going in too. I am currently finishing up my psych, A&PII this semester and then will be taking microbiology in the summer. That way I will be all set and only have to focus on the nursing classes!
:)
I'm a bit confused by the application process. Based on what I read on the site, I thought you had to have completed all of your pre-reqs, then asked them to review your file, then they give you the info to schedule the HESI, and then you're accepted and have to complete the background check. On your posts though, you guys are saying you already took the HESI and did the background check and applied while still doing pre-requisites? How did you do this?
I applied to take the HESI after I took biochem. I was a transfer student so I had all my English, math, pre-psych requirements satisfied. But once you have the following classes you can apply, because you can take all other "prereqs" with concurrent enrollment. Hope this helps.
BIO 1100 Introduction to Biological Chemistry
ENG 1010 College Composition I
or
ENG 101H Honors College Composition I
MATH 1250 Contemporary Mathematics or higher
PSY 1010 General Psychology
or
PSY 101H Honors General Psychology
I know this is a little older but I am a new member. I'm currently an LPN and I am starting at Tri-c for the spring semester. I have to take all of my pre req's because I went to Brown Mackie for my LPN. I am hoping to get them all done this year and I am hoping to start the nursing program in Spring of 2015. Right now I am signed up for 3 classes and on the waiting list for my math class... I'm wondering if you guys can give me any advice?

It takes quite a while to get through all the prereqs but you can do it. If you plan on going on for your BSN, take Chem 1010 and 1020. Also, if you're slow at math, don't take the on-line Algebra class, the tests are timed. I started as an LPN as well and I just graduated this past May. Goodluck!!!
