World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hey,

anyone applied to the compressed nursing program at Tent University for fall of 2020. Lets connect here.

has anyone heard anything more from Trent? I haven't finished my prerequisites but I haven't gotten an alternate offer/rejection...maybe they're waiting for final transcripts?

Hey everyone,

I have accepted my offer to Trent for the fall and would love to connect with others who are also planning on Trent for Fall 2020!

I am planning on going to Trent in the fall and would also love to get in touch with some potential classmates! I haven't be able to find a facebook group as of yet.

In the Ontario Second Entry Nursing Forum someone created a facebook group for everyone attending or planing to attend Trent in Fall 2020. Here is the link in case some of you do not follow that forum!

Hey Everyone!

So I just got into both the Accelerated and collaborative programs at Trent University. I was just wondering if anyone can give me pros/cons in regards to both these programs. Since I already did 3 years of Biomed at York I am leaning towards the compressed program but I still want to weigh my options!

Hey Bhavik!

I just finished my Biomed degree at uOttawa and will be taking the accelerated program at Trent. I didn't apply to any collaborative programs and I am not too familiar with Trent's but for accelerated it is a shorter program for the same degree which is beneficial if you aren't wanting to take the extra 1.5-2 years of schooling. However, keep in mind that with accelerated you do have mandatory classes during the Summer (May-July) where with the collaborative program you do not. This might be something you want to consider financially since you may only be able to work full time for one month out the year where as collaborative you can work for four. In regards to classes, both collaborative and accelerated take all the same nursing classes but the reason accelerated is shorter is because you do not need to take all the elective credits since you have them from your previous university education. I could be wrong about this but for collaborative you could still have many transfer credits which might shorten the program length but it will not be condensed into 2.5 years like accelerated. The reason I am saying this is because of the prerequisite course scheduling and the fact that some of the Summer nursing courses are reserved for accelerated nursing students. Again, I am not 100% sure about this but if you are hoping to complete the nursing program in as short of time as possible then accelerated might be the way to go.

Hope that helped a bit! ?
