Has anyone here traveled with less than 2 years RN experience? What is it like? Are you able
to find jobs? I have 16 months experience and spoke to a recruiter who basically said I wouldn't have a problem finding jobs. My experiences are in telemetry, IMC, and cardioThoracic (it's 1 big unit). I'm aware most hospitals prefer to hire nurses with 2+ years, but is it possible for someone to work with only 16 months of experience.
Yes, the best part of traveling is getting to see how other hospitals do things. At the hospital I am in now, they do things I only wished I had in place where I was staff. Not sure yet what staff retention is like where I am now but I sense if people leave it may be mostly due to money as opposed to management or workload. The whole staff work environment is very supportive ... and I dont think I have worked anywhere else where techs (CNAs) are consistently on the ball working along with nurses in harmony. They never seem to disappear when you most need them.

Hey vnguyen3, BSN, I am yet to be able to send private message, so pardon the publicity. I am in Houston, tx. Considering going to a northern state next. What did you end up doing?
Hey! mwaits081 I was in Houston as perm staff. I took my first assignment here in Mcallen Tx, working for an HCA (Never thought I could handle 7 demanding patients) but I did. I'm glad I took the plunge like you guys did. I'm looking into northern states too for my next possible assignment.
