travel restrictions IPN

When I was in the Massachusetts SARP program (thankfully over 17 years ago) I had to call a phone number six days a week to see if had to give a random urine that day. I didn't have to stay in Massachusetts but I did still have to call that number. I've given u/a samples in Florida and Pennsylvania when my number came up. There was a list of accepted labs that I could go to. Sometimes it was inconvenient and hard to find the lab but I did it and after 5 years, I "graduated" from the program and have a clean record at the BON.

Wondering what the travel restrictions in fl ipn program. When I was in ca, I wasn't allowed out of my county with out permission. We had a place at the river 3 hrs away and needed permission to go away. How do you travel when in ipn.

Are you talking about Vacation?

I have been in the Florida IPN program for 3 years now. IPN can not tell you that you can not go on Vacation. I have taken Vacations in Florida, in another State and out of the Country.

What I do, is Call and talk with my case worker. Let her know your plans and your where abouts. If you are taking any type of Public transportation make sure you have your Itinerary. (ie: Plane Ticket info / Train Ticket info)

You will also need to give the person in charge of the UDS's a call also (Letting her know of your plans also). I still call for my color. If I am called I just buy something (via Credit Card) that day. (This is what I have been told to do by the person who is in charge of the UDS's).

If you are planning on going out of the Country. Again, call your case worker and the UDS person. You also will need a "Complete Copy of your Itinerary". (ie: When you are leaving, Where you are Going and When you are returning). This way IPN knows where you are at during that time.

Like I said earlier. I have went on many Vacations and visited many Countries during my 3 years and As long as I let everyone know where and when, I have not had any issue's.

Also. If traveling within the USA. Try to make sure that the Hotel or Rental Car is in your name (if possible). In fact, try to have EVERYTHING in your name. This way you have multi-proof.

Traveling was a big issue in the program I was in also. They were very strict. What they said was basically "travel at your own risk." Traveling outside the US was strongly discouraged. Within the US, you were required to get a list of 'acceptable' drop sites and be prepared to test no matter where you were or what you were doing. You still had to call every day, 7 days a week including holidays! I heard of a few exceptions being given if the person had been in the program for a good while (>1 yr) with no violations to their contract. It's important to have as good a working relationship as possible with your Case Manager. That's the person who determines (with the permission of the committee) whether you will ever be allowed an exception to the rules. It seems that rarely happens, however. They pretty much 'own' you until you're done with the program.
