I am looking to relocate to S Carolina and working in the Hilton HEad Island or Savannah, GA area. I have 3 young kids and a husband too (so make that 4 kids!) and was wondering what your opinion of Travel Nursing is in so much as getting a feel for the area and finding a decent position. Thanks in advance for your great tips and advice!!!

Tomskatt, I did travel nursing in S. Carolina for 4r yrs, and would go back in a heartbeat. But not to live! School system wasn't the best...so I homeschooled my daughter will there. And the schools even helped me with getting started, and referred me to a homeschool network.

Hilton Head I can only comment on the fact that the area is beautiful, and I always felt safe while working in the area. But expensive...even Mickey D's!!! But they have a great hospital, and I have yet to hear a traveler complain about it.

Savanah was a whole other story though. I though about relocationg there, and changed my mind.

You could always take a travel assignment there, and see how you like it.

Good luck whatever you decide:).

Thank you!! I am getting excited! We plan on moving to Bluffton right outside of Hilton Head (it's cheaper than NY anyway!) and I think Travel Nursing seems to be the best answer right now. Thanks so much for your help!

Hi Kathy!

I have been traveling with my boyfriend and our son for over 2 years, but he is only five years old now. We haven't run into the school problem yet.....soon though. We love it, but we are both nurses so that makes things a lot easier. I say go for it, if your family is willing. As long as you have eachother....it works out! Good luck!

My oldest is 5 now and just starting kindergarten in the fall so it's a little risky, but we aretaking the dive and hoping to land on 2 feet!!!

Kathy you're very welcome...:). I think you will definetly land on both feet. Take care..

I have lots of nurses who travel with their families some do all the time, some to test out the waters of a new community. It has worked really well. Of course South Carolina pay rates are not that great but plentiful. Savannah is a great area, very pretty, historic rather charming. I have lots of positions in both places. As a matter of fact our owner Carol Feuger was the VP of Nursing at Memorial Hospital in Savannah for years. Please feel free to call either of us for info of any kind.
