Travel Nursing vs. permanent position

I am just curious to know roughly the number of seasoned nurses that are travel nurses. Does that make sense? I have been a nurse for more yrs than I care to admit, and now that I have no responsibilities at home, plan to pursue travel nursing. Will I be considered out of place? Will I be able to do this for the rest of my working years? Any ideas? I can't wait to get started, but I am also a little worried!!

I have been a nurse for 11 years.

I was very burned out at the job that I had, and discouraged about Nursing.

Traveling has renewed me and also shown me how great that nursing can be.

I have to agree whole heartedly with the previous posters. I have been a nurse 31 years and started traveling 5 years ago. I have met lots of single travelers as well. I can't see myself doing anything else unless we run into a large sum of money I hadn't planned on. Go for it. The worst that can happen is you don't like it, then you can settle down to a permanent job again.

My guess though is you will really enjoy the freedom, the money, the opportunities to see new places, meet new people and the lack of politics, you will not believe you even considered hesitating. Good luck.
