Hi to all,

I was wondering are there still companies out there that hire LPN as travel nurses?

During my searches, I am only finding companies that are currently seeking RN. If you of any please share? I live in the state Mississippi if that would be of any help.

Thanks

is that single coverage? 500. or family?

is that single coverage? 500. or family?

500 just for me, that does not include dental or vision which is extra. I have a $6000 deductible and basically pay full price on prescriptions up until the $500 prescription deductible was met, now it is slightly cheaper. Co pays are $60 at doctors appt. that's just my specific agency but it seems that most others have about the same. You may have better luck going with a huge agency like American mobile or cross country since usually the larger the company, the better group discounts they get for their employees. I was with a small agency. Just keep in mind that sick days, paid time off, extended sick leave, etc does not exist in the travel nursing world. If i break your arm unexpectedly, not only would I pay $6000 deductible, I would lose my job with no compensation and agency could technically charge me for not completing my contract. For me, I was tired of working my butt off as a nurse with my only real benefit being free rent and some tax free money. I want a 401k match, vacation pay, etc. A lot of agencies seem to falsely advertise their benefits. For example, my agency said they offer license and education reimbursement. We'll i had a job in Florida, they did not reimburse me for my Florida licensing fees bc I got the license 6 months in advance and not at the time of the job. I also had to go do ACLS renewal, which was $275, the did not reimburse me for that either. It's like pulling teeth sometimes to get them to stick to their word. Right now I am being ignored by my agency after a referral I gave them just completed an assignment and I am probably going to have to fight to get the referral bonus. I do not regret traveling, but I will say that no one is on your side in this industry and you will have to be ok with dealing with stressors in life with no sympathy or back up from your agency or your employer. It's all about the $$$$$. No wonder people are running around from agency to agency trying to find this perfect agency that doesn't seem to exist! Bottom line, you need to look out for yourself and be prepared for many unexpected costs. Have a large emergency fund and unless you're really good with budgeting, don't expect this industry to be very profitable. Good luck! Like I said, I did truly enjoy it, but it does not seem like a good long term fit for me based on what I mentioned.

well on my end the prescription coverage is the biggest deal. 500 deductible is not too bad since that is what i am paying

now. I will blow thru 500 deductible in the first month maybe two months. diabetes is expensive when you add all the insulin and what not.I prefer the pens for insulin its just easier and less embarrassing in public. and I just want to do this temporarily to build up some cash to go back to school to complete my rn. nursing school was tough on me and I know that I need to fully concentrate on that without bills piling up on me. I just want to make sure im not getting in over my head before I agree on a contract. I am a new lpn with 10 months experience on my license. I have worked in ltc as a cna for 6 years prior to getting my lpn. what can I expect? I know im limited to clinics and ltc but what about pay and hours? if I wanted overtime is that possible?
