Pros & Cons of Travel Nursing With Families.
Hi all,
I'm interested in travel nursing & I have 2 dependents. I currently live in HI, but am willing to relocate to almost anywhere since I've never left my home state. I'm just looking for pros & cons of travelling and best/worst travel agencies and any other tips/tricks you can throw out at me!
TIA!

I haven't taken the leap to travel yet but I've been following the gypsy nurse FB page and researching this for the last year.
It seems that it was at one time a great way to make more money than local staff positions. But these days travel agencies aren't offering amazing pay anymore. After moving/travel expenses and renting a room or apt in a new city it doesn't seem worth the stress of learning a new hospital, staff and computer system. Even If someone went from a low paying state to higher like California the cost of living and commute would null the benefits. Filing taxes from multiple states looks complex and requires research.
I haven't totally thrown out the idea but if and when I travel it will be for the experience of learning and exploring new cities only. Not to get rich quick.

There is no best agency. Your best bet is to talk to lots of agencies and pick three to five recruiters to work further with. Obviously, you want recruiters you communicate well with and trust. Agency brand is completely irrelevant.
Hard road with family, especially with health insurance. Staff insurance is always better, and more affordable. But it is certainly done!
