Travel Nursing Companies

Published

Hey guys! I plan on starting travel nursing this June (six months from now). I was just curious as to any information on what's the best travel company to work for. All the information I've been looking at is from several years ago.

I've been a nurse for about 5 1/2 years, the last 2 1/2 in ICU. I've never traveled before. My priorities are good pay and a lot of job options (I want to go to Hawaii and Alaska at least once!). I'm also looking for a company that offers good health insurance for my husband and I. What are some good travel company options? Why or why not? Thanks!

Yes, but often just the direct cost and not the cost of the fingerprints, background check, and verifications of other licences held.

My company pays for up to $180 for new licenses.

Based on your experience I think you'd be a great traveler, especially if you are very adaptable and flexible. I only have 2 years experience and I seem to manage even if it's stressful for me at times. For your first assignment or two I would stick to a state close to home just to see how you like it. As for HI and AK, I have been to HI and the travel allowance doesn't even cover how much it costs to get there, plus the pay is really low because everyone wants to go. You usually have to find your own housing too with their stipend and the rent is really high. But it's great to go for the experience of it as long as you don't expect to make much money after expenses!

Hi everyone,

Just starting to look into travel nursing. I'm fairly new to the nursing game, 2 years in peds icu and almost 1 year in medical/surgical. I'm a Canadian looking for a long term contract (6 months-1 year) in San Francisco. What are some good companies for Canadians? I only have certification in Ontario, do the companies pay for my certification in California? Is anyone currently travel nursing in San Francisco? Any information would be very helpful. Thanks!

Hi HikingNinja, I haven't heard back about the $$$ part yet. They are credentialing me now. They pay all expenses. I'll let you know.
