I have a question that hopefully someone can answer:

Currently, I am NICU traveler on my first travel assignment. However, for my next assignment I have applied to a few more companies in order to compare benefits and so forth. Well tonight I recieved a message on my voice mail from one of the companies saying that they've already submitted my profile to some hospitals. I have yet to talk to the recruiter (I will call her tommorrow) and whe i applied online i did not tell her i wanted my profile submitted. (I'm not even sure i want to go with this company).

Now my question is, does this mean I am obligated to this particular company and what happens from this point on??

Hello!

No, you are not obligated to do anything with the new company....in fact, it's really not too cool to be sending your info without talking with you. I would be a little hesitant to deal with a recruiter who feels it's okay to send your info to whomever they feel like! Make sure to shop around---and wait 'til you find the "right fit" before you sign on the dotted line (you aren't committed 'til you sign)---if you can't find what you want with one company, keep looking!!! To make it easier, keep a copy of all your necessary records (tests, labs, new employee stuff), and you can fax these to any new company---saves you beaucoup time in fillin' paperwork (and really, don't we do too much as it is!!:rotfl: ) Hope this helps ya!

They should never send your info to ANYONE without your okay. And I would not work with one that does.

It is NEVER okay to send your profile without your approval first. I would immediately fax or email a statement to this company that they do not have your approval to send your profile without your written permission.

Facilities will often turn away a candidate if they have been submitted by more then one Agency.

Shame on them, and I would be more then hesitant to work with this Agency; I probably would NOT work for them unless they proved they were worthy (apologized prolifically, gave fabulous bennies, etc)...

Remember, these Agencies do NOT exist without Nurses; WE are the commodity.

Let us know how you are doing ;)

Call this company TODAY.. Ask to speak to the president of the company. Explain that what the recruiter did was not ACCEPTABLE and that you are very sorry but you feel violated and just won't be able to work with them.

Oh, and your "obligation" ends with the completion of your contract as defined in your contract.

Start a paper trail today to stop their unacceptable behavior.
