Travel contract

I'm a new traveler. This is the contact being offered by my recruiter. Is this a good deal?

Facility is in or near Seattle, WA- Must have WA nurse license- BLS/CPR required, ACLS preferred- 40 hours guaranteed- No call- No weekends- Strong in all specialties - no open heart- Circulate only, no scrub- ASAP start date- 13-week assignment- $700 relocation/travel reimbursement- $2000 per month TAX FREE for housing- $1000 per month TAX FREE for meals- $22.75 per hour (on top of the combined $3000 per month TAX FREE)- $2000 completion bonus at end of assignment *** Between the housing money ($2000 per month) and the meals money ($1000 per month) you'll be receiving $692 every single week tax free. You'll also be making $22.75 an hour, so that is another $910 per week (however, that is taxed). On top of that weekly income, you'll receive $700 travel reimbursement and a $2000 completion bonus after 13 weeks.

You can use the PanTravelers calculator to compare that offer with others. Without other offers though, there is little way to tell. Are you happy with it? It looks good enough for a first assignment if you are otherwise happy with the agency and hospital. Why don't you go for the interview?

Specializes in ICU, PROGRESSIVE CARE.

May I ask what your specialty is?

I'm going to guess OR since that is where that position was offered.

Specializes in Med/surg, Quality & Risk.

I am not a traveler, so....looks great to me. Hey, if you don't take it I will!

Lol!!

Specializes in Med/surg, Telemetry/PCU, Bone & Joint.

Sure looks pretty good to me! However you need to find out A: what your rent is going to be. If its 2000.00 and your stipend is 2000.00, well then there is no money to be made there. Your meals stipend seems generous. Your travel stipend of 700.00 seems fair, but keep in mind, this has to accommodate travel there AND BACK to your home base. Not sure what the 692.00 weekly tax free monies is for, but that seems substantial if it's just part of your pay. 2000.00 completion bonus is a real good thing. All in all, you need to figure out to the best of your "guestimate" what your expenses will come to and what you walk away with. Then add this to your hourly rate that they are paying you and see if it seems fair. I say the more in stipends the give you compared to a base hourly rate, the better, cause anything in stipend form is tax free!! P.S. I don't think completion bonuses are tax free.
