Trauma with the clinicals....Help

Here is my dilema. I am already an LPN and have been for 9 years, I recently went back to work on getting my RN. I am very excited about this next big step in my life. The problem is I heard from another nursing student that although we will finish most of our classes in or around 2006 we will be unable to take our clinicals until 2008:confused: This is worrying me a little and I was hoping that someone on here can help me. Does anyone know if there are hospital based programs to do clinicals outside of the school clinicals? What should I do? I have made an appointment with my advisor to discuss this but my anxiety is already up there. And now I am even thinking about working towards my second goal of social worker in the mean time. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

One thing I learned during nursing school is that rumors pop up all the time, and 90% of them aren't true. Why freak out about something another student told you right now? Unless you get something official with that info, just keep on plugging along. I can't imagine that any program would be set up in such a way that you would take no classes for 2 years while you sit around and wait to do clinicals.

I can't either. In my state, the clinicals and theory have to be taken concurrently. It's required by law.

I can't see that being possible either. As for rumors, they are always rampent. I heard plenty while taking pre-reqs. Maybe it's becuase of the intense competition to get into the program that gets them started. I heard everything from the program not being accredited to physics being a pre-req.

I'd just walk into the nursing department of the school and ask them how they do clinicals if I were you. Easy as that and you relieve stress! :)

thanks to everyones input. As soon as I walked on campus I went and set up yet another advisor meeting. It was a little stressful but now I am feeling a little better about it. Thanks
