Transition to RN Exam

Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

Hi, everyone! Long time reader, first time poster. :)

I'm taking the "Transition to the Professional Registered Nurse" exam tomorrow afternoon & am curious to see if anyone had any last-minute tips. This is my very first Excelsior exam & I'm a tad nervous. I've been using StudyGroup101, as well as the EC practice exams. I feel like it's hard to retain the information because it's so dry.

Is this exam one of the harder EC exams? Any tips would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Well, I was enrolled previously and I took a few of the nursing exams back then but I don't know how it is now. We were able to take health and safety and transitions before you enrolled. So I did. I passed health and safety though. I also took Chronicity and failed that one. That's when I withdrew from the program and now I am back at it again. I have to take a&p and micro this time around. Just did micro.

Hmmm, it sounds like I should be able to take the other nursing exams after I pass Micro. I plan on taking Micro in a month or so. How was it for you, mocha? Easier/harder than expected? I was a biology major for three years before I decided to go into nursing, so I have a pretty good biology foundation. Hopefully that will help.

Thanks,

Kathryn

It was hard to me but you should be ok since that is your background.

LunahRN when did you start the msn program at excelsior? I'm wondering how long it took you and have you heard about how long it took for others? Could you brief me on the program, like an overview? Thanks!

I started in August 2011. I have mostly taken one class at a time, and just had a pretty big gap due to deployment to Afghanistan. You can find a comprehensive overview in the nursing catalog available for download on EC's website. Feel free to PM me with any specific questions, bearing in mind that I did the BSN to MSN portion only (already had my BSN prior to starting).
