I have a completely dependent pt that I have to transfer frequently. I am taking care of said pt within their own home. I am having troubles though. This pt is about 2x my weight and taller than me. I use a gait belt and am lifting with my thighs/knees rather than my back, but I am still struggling. It tends to be easier for me to get the pt from bed to the WC or WC to bed. But I really struggle with WC to toilet or vice versa, especially d/t the confined space. Are there any tips or tricks that you have found to be helpful? Please let me know. I would appreciate any input. I anticipate this won't be my last dependent pt and would love any pointers (I'm working out in the mean time though, hoping to strengthen those muscles!).
