To what degree if any would ISU accept an EC transfer? This is seems to be rapidly accelerating into "lame" territory. 16 states now have some form of stipulating issue with EC--and now TX? Is EC just going to continue it's denial of this increasingly serious problem, or conclude that this trend is irreversable and initiate a clinical program sufficient to keep the wolves at bay? We have spent a great deal of money, time, sacrifice and heartache for this to ignored. EC's apparantly vain attempts to educate and convince BON's and hospital Nursing Recruiters, are the proverbial shooting of blanks.
I dislike pulling a "business-ism" here, but are we not ultimately EC's customers? I'm not diggin' the service...

Are you an LPN? I believe ISU does use some EC exams for general ed, but you do have to be an LPN for their program -- you can't just transfer in as an EC student.
You raise very valid points ... I don't think anyone would disagree that this needs to be addressed. I'm certain EC is painfully aware of it by this point. It just remains to be seen what they'll actually do about it.
Thank you Lunah. No, I'm a 'medic from about a hundred years ago. All the gen eds are done--ad nauseam--from a b&m school. I test NC4 in Oct..Thanks for reading the rant.

gatordog, ISU is for LPNs. I think you should just continue with your testin FAST. Don't give up yet.
No problem. :) Things are fine in Michigan, as far as I know. erinp88 is another Michigan student here, and medic2ernurse2b finished EC in June, and I think she's in Michigan, too.
Yay medics!

gator dog,
I'm with you, I also think this disturbing trend is going to continue (seems to be gaining a lot of momentum). I think EC will either be forced to accomadate the BON's or risk being accepted in very few or possibly no states. I'm in PA, an "EC friendly" state, but then I'm sure EC students in VA thought they had a similar situation. I am 1 NC test away from being CPNE eligable. I looked into ISU back in July, great program, but it would set me back 2-3years and require tons of courses since it's a bachelors program. Besides the monetary difference, I'm too close to being done to start over, unless I'm given no other choice.
My plan is simple, I intend to get through last NC exam and 3 gen eds before Nov, get my app in for the CPNE and test by end of March or April. I'm going to borrow for the CPNE, so money doesn't stall me. After (or if) I pass the CPNE, I'm gonna take my boards and I'm not gonna look back.
But I wouldn't recommend this program to anyone else right now, too much uncertainty. I really hope EC changes its uncompromising stance so this can be worked out, its a great program. Otherwise I might be telling ppl that I graduated from that distance program, the one that's not in existence anymore.

Thanks Lunah, Akanini--Lisa, I was considering testing for PA (I love downtown Philly), or NJ (south), but I doubt my girlfriend would go for it. My son lives in FL (Vero area),so I really want to work in that direction. I'm in southwest Michigan,btw--Kalamazoo area. It's nice to get a little support--thanks again
