I currently work for a large affiliated system, but out of the hospital environment (home care RN). My background is acute care, but I went into home care due to some family circumstances thinking the Monday through Friday schedule would be better to take care of my elder parent. Well, it isn't and I am looking to transfer into the hospital for the 12 hour shifts, nights etc. I applied through the system website for a position I think would be a great opportunity. I was wondering if I should print off a copy of my resume and cover letter and deliver it in person to management on the unit. What do you folks think? Any managers here, would you consider that to be proactive or pushy? I can't really chat about it with my coworkers as transferring is of course frowned upon.

If you know the unit manager I would definitely go in person. If not I would probably get their email address and send them a brief email introduction letting them know you are interested and have applied. In my experience the HR gatekeepers can be problematic so if at all possible I try to augment my contact with them by checking in with the person who really matters, lol. Good luck!
