Transfer Student? Nursing School?

Published

Hello,

I am a freshman at college and am deciding if I want to pursue nursing school. Because the school I am currently at is a little far from home and other reasons, I might transfer to somewhere closer. Does being a transfer student affect my chances of getting into nursing school? Will the program be harder for me?

Thanks

Is the college you are looking to get into in your district? My school accepted students by in district students first....so basically no out of district students got in due to over 300 applicants for 80 spots. So an indistrict student could have less points (entry had a point system) than an out of district student, but still get in over the out of district student.

If it's a university, there should be no probablem if you are in good standing with your current school. I went to 2 different schools before my 3rd school where I completed my program.

Depends on the nursing school. Many, if not most, require you to start in the program as a freshman. Some allow transfers or change of majors - but you should definitely look into the programs you are interested in. If the school allows transfers into their nursing program, then being a transfer won't affect you.
