0Part of the health forms that I need to fill out for nursing school is what medications I am on. I am nervous that the school will have a problem with me taking tramadol for my chronic pain. Does anybody have any experience with this? It does not impair my thinking or functioning at all.

Hhhmmm....
A decision of your school. A report from your doc about the dose, the diagnose and your compleance could be helpful. Tramadol is not a OTC.
The regulations of your school are also made to protect you. "Be honest" is the only way to go.

Your best option is to be honest failing to disclose can potentially get you into far more trouble with the school and more importantly with the Board of Nursing. I would think that generally schools and facilities would be OK with tramadol, but that's a choice that's up to them to make.

I would definitely be honest about it. If you have a legal Rx for a medical Dx and do not have side effects when using it that would be a patient safety issue, I do not know why they would have an issue with it...
Schools most follow the policies of the clinical sites they partner with, and it's not unheard of for hospitals to prohibit any medications that carries a warning related to impairment, typically the "do not drive or use heavy machinery" warning. Whether or not the student or their doctor feels it actually is impairing doesn't really matter.
