Trained in the Philippines

Published

Hello everyone!

I'm originally from Nigeria but I got my bachelor's of science in Nursing in the Philippines. After graduating I enrolled for a master degree in public health and got done less than a year ago.

The Philippines don't allow any other nationals to take their local RN exams, so I didn't take their local board exam. Right now I'm working as a teacher in China.

I want to take an Nclex RN exam next year, I have gone through most states BON requirements, one of the requirements for a foreign trained is to be an RN from their home country or where they were trained.

Is there anyway I can take Nclex without me being an RN either from my home country or where I was trained?

Are there states that doesn't require applicants to be an RN from their home country or where they were trained as a requirement for foreigners?

Any suggestion will be really helpful.

Thanks

Yes, I did. I already filled out an application for my credentials evaluation services on their website. They want me to make sure the state I will apply for will allow me take their NCLEX without having a license anywhere.

Oops. It's tough. U can start with Texas bon, heard they are lenient. Better still, y not post this on nairaland or nigeriannursesforum. Maybe there'll be someone who has done this before. Most people I know always went back to get licenced in Nigeria tho.

Best of luck bro. Following u closely to see what works

Hello, wil19. Have u gotten a lenient state?

some states like florida don't need a philippine nurse licence to take NCLEX.

Hi please I have the same case as wil19 @wil19 please do you have any update?

Hey Tiana, I already passed the NCLEX RN. States like New York, Maine and Texas would let you apply without a prior license. You just need to explain why you don’t have a license where you were trained.

The state with the least requirements is New York, all you have to do is take an online course on Child Abuse, it cost about $50.

I haven’t logged into my account for a long time.

You have no idea how much joy this brings to me, I made my research too…I knew it was possible, had lots of discouragements! Arggh especially the travel ban…Thank you so much for this info, CONGRATULATIONS ???

Please I studied nursing in Philippines but my school is not accredited in my country Nigeria. Are Nigerians allowed to write Philippines licensure exams? I need help it's been 2 years of staying ahome.

Hi Nigerians(foreigners) are not allowed to write license exam in Philippines, you can come back to Nigeria to take your country of origin exam or go through the route as stated above(NCLEX)

Like I said my school is not accredited in Nigeria and the school director is not doing anything about it... things like this should be put into consideration. No one tells you about Nigerians not been allowed to take the licensure examinations until your done. I feel scammed by the school after paying extra 9000 pesos for foreign fee but when we have problems the school just don't pay attention to us. Very unfair if you take it won't hurt to give back. We have thousands of Filipino nurses world yet your law forbids others frm practicing in your country... what do we do we call that if not discrimination? We still have to spend extra 2 years in Nigeria to get a license after graduation even Ukraine gives foreigners license.

Yeah well deed is done… send an email to Nigeria midwife council Nigeria explaining your situation hopefully they consider.
