Traffic Violations

Published

I live in California..I have passed my NCLEX for PN first time:) and the bad news is that board sent me a letter saying that they are evaluating my conviction record. It has been almost 4 weeks since I have recieved this letter and I took my test in end of January. I have like 7 speeding tickets on my court record:(. None of them was over $500 and I paid for all of them on time and I took the traffic school also. I m really worried about board denying the license. Can someone help me with their suggestions about this issue..thx

I seriously cannot believe that the board would deny someone a license for unpaid traffic tickets. Totally unbelievable!

I am not sure how long tickets stay on a license in California but here it is 7 years. I have always got my tickets fixed otherwise I would be in the same boat you are. It is better to pay the extra money to have an attorney fix them then to go through this. How long has it been since you received a ticket? That will probably play into their decision as well. How far apart are the tickets?

Hi LadyEJ, RN, BSN,

I didn't pay my taxes for my house when my license renewal came up last year so they put a lien on my nursing license until I paid the taxes. It is just another way for them to get their money.

Finally I got my license today and starting my job as a LVN tomm..so excited :)

Hi nock tine,

When you say the records are gone did you lose them or did you already mail them off? Either way, from now on always make copies of everything that you sign or that you send away, then you have proof. I cannot see why you can't get another copy of the court documents. I know it is hard to do but you have to do what they say. You are at their mercy, they determine whether or not you get a nursing license. You do not what to make them mad. I would not drive to Sacramento because you are angry and upset, you will probably start yelling and then they will for sure deny you licensure (and possibly have you arrested for intimidation, assault, all of the above). Do not under any circumstances drive there. Others have waited 2 months (myself included). You have come this far, you do not want to give up or "lose it" now. You are almost there. Just sit tight. You will be all right (I didn't mean to rhyme, sorry). Good luck!:)

i know i sounded angry, but trust me ,i'm not stupid. im going to be a nurse, of course i know how to be professional. and the proof of payment for my tickets, i already did send them in. i actually drove to sac, and turned in the papers. i even had my analyst confirm they received them. and yes, i did make a copy , which i plan to bring to sac, when i go. the court in my county doesnt have my tickets on record. since i paid, they stay in the system for about 6 months, so there was only one that showed up when i went to the court. i had the clerk sign and stamp a document stating records could not be found for such n such. i guess maybe it was not good enough, so i plan to go to the court right before i drive to sac. don't worry, i wont unleash hell at the bvnpt. =p

my trip to sac was no waste at all. after gettin another document from my court, i drive up to the bvnpt. show them the letter and ask if what i have was good enough. they let me speak to an analyst, and she pulled up my file. she then tells me there was a mix up with files and that im good to go.!!! she processed my paperwork there. i didnt have the $150 on me so im going back tomorrow for my temporary license. FINALLY!!! im so happy. im glad i drove there.... instead of waiting. finally all this crap is over. ...now its time to find a job =)
