Towson University

Haven't visited there, but I have friends that went there for several different majors. It's a good school. Very large though, so I guess you should consider if you like large or small classes.

I know a nurse that graduated from there and loved it. It's a big school, but not huge. Towson is about 5 miles north of the city, but it's still part of the larger metropolitan area. It only takes ~15 minutes to get to downtown Baltimore from Towson. I considered that school but because I live in the city I wanted to attend a school in the city.

There are a ton of hospitals in this area. I'm not sure what their clinical sites are, but there are a lot of options in Baltimore. We'd love to have you!! :)

i am really interested, i want to visit the school. can any of you tell me how i could get there because i dont drive. i know i could probably cacth a train. do you know if there is public transportation down there?

It would be a bit difficult without a car. You could certainly catch a train from Philly to Baltimore. But without a car I don't know how to direct you from there, unless you take a cab. Perhaps your best bet would be to contact the school and ask them how to get there via public transport (i.e. city bus) to the university.

Also if you're planning on living in the Towson area you would probably really need a car to get around. Now if you want to look at UMD, where I go, it's right downtown and easily accessible via the "light rail" or bus. I take the light rail to school every day, and I know lots of other people who live either on campus or within walking distance. It's not the safest neighborhood in the world, but there are apartment high-rises with lots of students (medical, dental, pharmacy, social work, law, and nursing students) nearby.

I am currently completing my fourth year at Towson University and I can honestly say that it is a good school. I will be graduating with my Bachelor of Science degree and then going to University of MD for my BSN (hopefully!) and the nurse practitioner program (fingers crossed). The science courses are what I am most familiar with, so I can tell you that most of them are really good. It's a pretty big school, but not so huge you get lost in the crowd. I have also been told that they have a good nursing program (I have several friends who are in it). They also have many minority oriented student organizations and clubs (BSU, etc.). I don't know what school you are transferring from, but I don't think transferring to TU would be a wrong decision. If you have anymore questions, please feel free to contact me or post a message.
