I'm in the program now, and will complete by 6/22/18 (if all goes well). It is leadership focused and I'm pretty sure you can't focus on education. I am currently a nursing instructor so most of my discussion topics and assignments focused on the clinical rotations I do with my students. Likewise my DNP project. I found it do-able with my instructor position because my hours were school hours (no double shifts or weekends). Lots of work, of course, but my DNP project was in a LTC facility so I could go there after work and compile hours around the clock. I started in July 2017 and will finish in June 2018, so you can see the appeal of this intense program. The hardest part was finding a DNP to be my project mentor in Connecticut. There are not a lot in LTC. But Touro had some suggestions if I needed them.
Hello! Like meanmaryjean, I am also a WGU/Touro alumni! I graduated July 2017 and at that point it was a Leadership track and you were not allowed to do anything related to Education. My Capstone project was completed in a Trauma/SICU setting and examined the role of the nurse as a leader at the bedside and required a lot of research and statistics. It was not an easy program with many assignments due weekly but I survived and am still somewhat sane! Please let me know if you have any further questions, have a great day!
I am also in the same situation. I graduated with MSN in education from WGU in 2015, and now looking for a DNP program. I would like the DNP program to be in education, but I would also prefer a program less than 2 years. The DNP would not change my position, as I already work as a Nursing instructor full time, but I would like to be able to pursue online teaching in the future.... I found WGU to be challenging but doable, as I was able to finish in 15 months!

Hi all,
I am interested in speaking with anyone who completed their DNP program. I live in NJ and I completed my MSN at WGU in November 2017. My end goal is to be a nursing instructor.
1. Is it affordable?
2. Is their faculty support for a Capstone project?
3. I am currently a school nurse and I have some great ideas for Capstone Projects but if I need to complete research in my current position it would be difficult. Thanks!!!!!
