Torrance Memorial New Grad RN Residency 2018

Nurses Residency

Published

Hey! I'm just curious if anyone has been following along on Torrance Memorial's website. They had updated it on 11/15 and they changed it again today. Did they just push back the date?

Thanks :)

I attended and I agree, there were so many people there! I interviewed with oncology & at the end of our discussion she invited me back to HR next week on Wed. I'm guessing that's for a panel interview. I wish I asked what to expect on Wednesday but I was just too excited that I forgot to. Oops! Best of luck to everyone!

Man, that open house was nuts! I interviewed with PCU and I have another interview on Monday morning! I'm really excited :). Good luck to everyone!

That's great news iheartMarshall, best of luck on Monday! Enjoy your weekend í ¾í´—

There was a slow trickle of people towards the end (when I went). I was talking to recruiters and they start the background checks on individuals and RN licenses next week since the cohort start is around February 26. So those who didnt have their RN license already were pretty much turned down immediately. But good luck to everyone with interviews!

I got a second interview for the CVICU on Tuesday! Good luck everyone!

Thank you for all of the info on this thread! I got an email Friday night from the person I spoke with from CCICU at the open house telling me that HR will contact me for an interview most likely on Tuesday. Does anyone know what we can expect for the interview and is this the interview we need to bring our two letters of recommendation to? I'm wondering if this is the final interview or they are doing an additional round of interviews after this. Any clarification would be much appreciated, TIA! Also, best of luck to everyone :)

I'm not sure how the next interview will be. I plan on asking when HR calls me on Monday to set up my second interview.

If you didn't being letters of recommendation the first time or a portfolio with everything in it, then you'll definitely want to bring it this time. They kept my portfolio after the initial interview.

I highly doubt there will be a third round of interviews. This is probably going to be it. They've got to start getting people through the hiring process, which could take 2-3 weeks. Especially, since the program starts late February.

If we were unable to attend the open house this past Friday, will we be given an opportunity to be interviewed?

Although they say you don't have to go, you really need to go to open house to be considered for an interview. Open houses are really primary screenings for potential candidates.

I have friends who already went through the new grad program and told me that if you're asked for an interview, you pretty much got it :). They really pick their candidates at open house so you must have rocked it. Good luck!!!

Torrance says that it's not required to go to their open house, but after going and seeing the craziness for myself I would argue that it is indeed absolutely 100% necessary in order to be considered for a position. However, I would still apply and see what happens. It only takes 10 minutes.

Yeah, agreed. I would put money on it that anyone who attended the open house has priority over applicants who didn't.

Nice! That's good to hear. I'm hoping for the best.
