Took the TEAS V: I think I bombed the Math section

Nursing Students TEAS

I took the TEAS today and while I think I did good on everything I know I bomb the math. The math portion was not like the TEAS study guide, there were quite a few lines problems like AB=9 + BC=10 equations on there, graphs, and not a whole lot of addition, substraction, or percentage problems. There were very few. I only have one more chance to take it. I dont know how to prepare for it. Is there a site I can go to that can help me with the word problems??

help suprised no one replied

help anybody. the math was nothing like the ati study guide what should i do?

Sorry! Wish I could help, but I haven't taken the TEAS yet. (I plan to take it pretty soon, though.) I found some helpful study information on Quizlett.com (I think that what it's called) and on the AN threads. I've been focused on studying the science section, so nothing specific to the math section comes to mind.

I hope you did well :) Good luck if you have to take it again.

I hope I passed too, I wont find out until next week.

I'm curious as to what type of math was on other student's TEAS exam?

Hello,

Did you use the official ATI TEAS V prep book before you took the test? I used that and have taken the ATI practice tests and it seemed to me as if they are just using similar math problems from the test guide as on the practice test.

Sorry, I haven't taken the test yet, but I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes :)

Yeah, I bought the whole package and still didn't do well. There was some basic Geometry that was not in the ATI book or on the online practice test.

Also some of the line graphs were much more difficult than what was in the ATI book.

The only way to really prepare for the test (any test) is to practice. Maybe find an online math prep to help you or consider enrolling in a basic math class to review before you re-take the test.

I don't know how much time you have, but a semester at a community college reviewing math and solidifying your skills may pay off in the long run.

All the best!

I have trouble with applied math. I can do basic math like adding, subtracting, dividing, mixed fractions, percents, algebra. It's the word problems that I struggle with and there was quite a few on there. And the Geometry, I didn't expect it to be on there. I didn't memorize any of the formulas. There was also a few problems concerning line graphs that I didnt' quite understand. There was one problem like that in the ATI book, but on the TEAS there was 3 of them and they didn't look as easy.

I actually google TEAS test and used the practice problems that had available online. If you struggle with word problems I suggest getting an Algebra book and doing some problems from there. I became really good at word problems just by using an Algebra book. I hope that helps in some ways :)

Hi i am new to this site but need some immediate help..... I am taking the Teas v next week and can't figure out the word problems. Is there alot of world problems in the test or do they write the problem out and all you have to do is solve them?

Yeah there are quite a few but they are very simple, just basic percentage and ratio and proportion word problems.Maybe two probability problems. The second time I took the TEAS I passed the math section, I just strengthened my weaknesses. Don't forget to brush up on your basic geometry
