Took my NCLEX-RN exam TODAY (2/5/2016)

Okay so I just tested (currently 2:47pm) this morning (8am).

I graduated in December 2015. I was a decent student, I graduated with a 3.65/4.00 gpa, but I didn't just get good grades like the rest. I HAD TO STUDY HARD! According to my ATI predictor score (a proctored exam administered to all graduating seniors, counted as 10% of our overall grade in a course), I had a 91% chance of passing the boards had I sat for it that day. I was neither here nor there about the predictor grade honestly. 91% just wasn't good enough for me, there was still a 9% chance it could go the other way! I applied to BON sometime in December and then to PV on Jan. 5th. My school swears by ATI and mandated we attend the 3-Day live review, or they wouldn't send out our paperwork.

After attending the ATI live review, I felt completely LOST ..

HERE IS HOW I STUDIED:

KAPLAN Q-BANK 1-MONTH subscription (which is due to expire Feb.11,2016):

A lot of my classmates purchased the entire course for $375-475 (don't quote me), but I just didn't want to. I have a way of processing information that has worked for me thus far so I decided to stick with it. I didn't feel like now was the time to start picking up new habits.

I did all of the questions (1400+). My very first set of questions I scored 56% (50 questions). Once again I felt LOST :facepalm::facepalm:..I kept with it! I got a spiral notebook and began to write down every single piece of content I got incorrect. I'd do sets of 5,10 and 20 questions to build my confidence. Jan.21 I recieved my ATT and decided to ONLY do sets of 75 until I completed the entire Q-Bank. I also made note after each set of which content areas I scored very low/below 60%

My scores doing sets of 75:

1- 60 %

2- 73 %

3- 63 %

4- 55 %

5- 49 %

6- 63 %

7- 67 %

8- 67 %

9- 63 %

10- 61 %

11- 63 %

12- 57 %

13- 65 %

14- 68 %

15- 71 %

16- 59 % (night before exam)

Also, after every set, I would also go back and select all categories and do 30-40 incorrect.

PREP-U NCLEX-RN 10,000 (thepoint.lww.com):

This was mandated in one of my courses. We had to do 2000 questions and average above a level 4 and 80% to get full credit in our grade. I used this site to strengthen my weak areas. The content areas (Mgt of care, safety, health promo, etc.) I noted were my weak points on Kaplan, I came to this site and did sets of questions in those particular areas. I did a total of 2,650 on this site (technically only 650 after I graduated) and averaged at a 5.20 mastery level.

OTHERS:

Saunders: for brief content review. Their question bank also gave me the option to do SATA only questions, which I needed!!

THE 35 PAGE BIBLE : it is floating around here on this site. Its a read, but a WELL WORTH read!! So please take my advice and READ it. I read it 3 maybe 4 times since I got it and one last time in my uber ride to the testing site.

MY BOTTOM LINE ADVICE:

I have stalked this site just as much as the rest. Many people say don't waste your time with content just do questions. I do not completely agree with that method. I say, If you do questions over and over and keep getting the same content wrong OVER AND OVER. Remediate!! Go back and look at what you aren't understanding.

But definitely do as many QUESTIONS as possible. I think Kaplan Q-Bank really prepared me to answer questions on the boards. It showed me what I knew, what I THOUGHT I knew and where I needed to go back and read (PEDS development ). KNOW your labs, how to prioritize and delegate, and HOW TO ANSWER SATA!!!!!

Last but not least, TRUST YOURSELF!! BE POSITIVE!! YOU'VE GOT THIS!!!;)

My computer shut off at 86/87 (I hid the counter at the top to settle my nerves). I'll update you all with my status when its posted.

Ibhad chem, math and a humanities before i could get my degree. Took the nclex Feb 6th, after trying my best to study, and feeling very underprepared since it had been so long since nursing school. It stopped at 86, questions. I dont feel good atcall about it. Gotbsuch an easy question in the middle thought theres no way im doing good. An idiot could add intake amounts. Hoping I will be surpised. Nothing on BRN site so far. Downloaded form to retest already.
