have you had multiple answer questions, if so how many out of the total number you had to answer? my school has been KILLING us with these for 2 years now....saying how they'll be on the NCLEX...is this true or what? I believe my school as far as I can throw them (not very far :chuckle)

As of April 04, the test changed to its present format. This includes multiple-answer questions, among other changes...
If you see these questions, it means one of two things:
1) Its part of the 15 "try-out" questions.
or
2) You're doing really well, and they think you can handle the harder questions.
If you see any... it will only be a few at most. Don't sweat it... but don't be suprised. At the very least... it looks like your school eliminated the suprise factor. =)

I had only one on my test (out of 108 questions) and of all the new type of questions I had I think 4

It's true. You can also expect to see some fill in the blank type questions as well. However, the bulk of your questions will still be "choose the best option".
There is a NCLEX-PN study guide from Lippincott devoted exclusively to the "new format" (multiple response, fill in the blank, diagrams/charts) questions.
In addition, the most recent Saunders NCLEX-PN guide (the 2nd edition) also covers the new format questions too.
When I did the Novell certification exam in 2001, almost half the test (61 questions) was "choose all that apply". I barely passed the Novell exam (min. passing: 661/my score: 664) but passed the NCLEX-PN with 85 questions:)

I took it in Feb. , and honestly I can't remember how many I had. I think it must have been less than 5 if I had any. When I was studying for it, I found the NCLEX Discussion Forum very helpful. I remember someone saying she had 15 or so. Good luck. Saunders Comprehensive Guide was a great study tool for me.

I took the test in August 2004 and had no new format questions out of 75. Feel free to PM me with additional questions or concerns.

I had 1 check all that apply, 0 fill in the blank. I took it in feb. of this year.
The best way to help your anxiety is by learning about the test. google search it. read about how the computer selects the questions. You will learn that the computer will continue to test your weak spots until it thinks you should pass or not. Some people will say plenty ped's, some will say plenty med's, and some will say plenty priority questions. that means that, that was THEIR weakness. Whatever they had lots of questions on- they needed more questions on that topic to prove they new the area of conent. Thats why everyone comes out of that room thinking they failed and they say it was nothing they studied- because what they knew was not tested again throughout the exam. Because its impossible to study everything you have to learn more about the test and then spend time learning the way the questions are. I bought a million nclex books thinking the more I had the better off I was..... well you cant just buy them you have to read them. =) Find a question and answer book, where the question, answer and rational is on the same page. you need to instintly understand why you answered letter B and not the correct answer A. Get a calander and write 100 questions sunday- 200 questions monday. tuesday- rest. wednesday-100 questions. thursday 300 questions..... etc. I took it twice, this is what helped me pass. stop worrying about everybody else cause it will be differnet for you. Infact I stopped talking to my school friends and stoped caring who passed and who didnt...... it doesnt matter cause YOU need to pass. good luck-
