Took the NCLEX-PN in CA 2 days ago, a lot of SATA, 85Q shut off

As it says in the title... I'm trying not to dwell on it, but this is the 4th time i took the NCLEX. I was sweating bricks in the testing center because apparently the computer wanted to throw me a lot.. and I mean plenty of "Select All That Apply" questions and I eventually shut off at 85 questions. Well, I've been reading left and right through the forums on SATA and what it's "supposed" to mean. But I'd rather not assume anything. I did however answer #85 with great confidence hoping I got that question correct. My cousin who took the NCLEX back in April one shot his exam. He told me to try the PVT, but it seems that the PVT is different now? Or does it not work? I've really never tried it since I don't want to try and spend $200 for California's exam fee and jolt my credit card debt another 200 lol.

Anyway, some fair input on anyone who had maybe 25-30 SATA questions would be pretty good to read at this point. Good luck all!

I had at least 20-25 SATA and my computer cut off at 85 questions. I found out yesterday that I passed! I'm in TN and the BON posts license numbers in less than 48 hours.

The number of SATA questions you got is utterly meaningless. Truth. It is a huge myth that SATA questions are only higher-level (passing level) questions; they are merely an alternative format type and the content of the question may be above or below the passing standard.

You can pass with many SATA, fail with many SATA. You can pass with few or no SATA, or fail with few or no SATA.

I just replied to you on another thread that the only clue you have on how you did on this exam is the fact that you had the minimum number of questions: this means you either did very well (and competency could be determined quickly) or very poorly (and incompetency was the situation that day).

Given how you did in school, your school's passing rate, how you prepared for the NCLEX, practice exam scores....which scenario is more likely?
