Took the money and ran

Nursing Students General Students

I'm not sure where to start. I go to a vocational school for nursing which is $35,507 without interest. The school turned out to be awful. We've had up to this point 7 different teachers some liked to argue others read straight out the book, and one lady quit after 45 min. We have less than 2 months before we graduate and based off my ATI scores my chances of passing the NCLEX slim. I've studied a lot on my own but I feel the school did me wrong. I've told them this and they basically told me I couldn't get my money back. If I go to the boards we probably won't get out when we're supposed to. I don't know what to do.

Research for reputable schools in the future. You can make complaints to accrediting associations but it's not longer your money

The problem is that you didn't do your "due diligence" You need to investigate everything about the program before giving them you money. Did you look on the state BON website to see what their NCLEX pass rate was? Did you go to the school and ask nursing students about the program?

It is like going to a car lot and buying a car. After a half mile the car falls apart. You go back to the dealer and complain. He says " Did you test drive the car? No. Did you have the car inspected by your mechanic? No. Did you see the sticker on the window that says AS IS? No. Then it is too bad that you didn't do your homework on the car."

That is an expensive and tough lesson to learn. I'm so sorry. I think your only option here is to prove the ATI wrong. Do Hurst, Kaplan, 8,000,000 practice questions. Watch YouTube videos. Do what you gotta do to pass the nclex, and then go out and keep learning. And if you ever find yourself going back to school....do your homework!

It sounds as if you got suckered by the ads. Now if you intend to go on in your education you might have a very hard time getting your previous credits accepted by a real school of nursing; depending on your school, you might even have a hard time getting some state Boards of Nursing to give you a license because they don't accept your diploma/degree/whatever it is, even if you pass NCLEX in a state that will.

::sigh:: As my sweet old grandmother used to say, some of us are put on this earth to be examples to others, one way or another. Now that would describe ... you. Good luck.
