To sell m nursing books or not to sell them...

Published

I will be graduating lpn nursing school next week and I've been offered $250 for my nursing books. Should I sell them or should I keep them. I'm just wondering what others did once they graduated

Ummm I guess it depends if you think you will need them to reference back to and whether $250 is worth not having those books around in case you need them. Completely up to you but I know for me, I will be hanging on to my pharmacology and assessment books just in case!

Some folks were advertising their used nursing books on the schools own website and they weren't through the program yet. That made the school director come out with a message chastising them about needing those books throughout the program and at least up until you pass NCLEX

I would say its an individual decision, how bad do you need the money vs. having them as a reference to study from to pass your boards. The longer you hold on to them, the less valuable, since they will be superseded by newer editions, but for me at least, I will hold on till I get RN behind my name.

The internet was not around when I got my books and I kept them for reference. Unfortunately, over the years I have found that the inconvenience of having them take up space has outweighed the usefulness of having a reference sitting around the house. I would sell them if it were me.

KEEP THEM! You never know when you will have to refer back to them.

If you do decide to sell them, do it online instead of at your school bookstore. You'll a lot get more money for them, and most companies pay for shipping.
