Just wondering if to pass the nclex it must be passing in each area or just overall?
That is is a score is below passing in safety for example, but my overall score passess will I pass or fail?

When I took Kaplan, one of my classmates asked the instructor this same question (as obviously everyone has areas of strengths/weakness). She told us that even if you fail one section it will still be possible to pass. HTH!

You need to pass/demonstrate competency in ALL areas. One area below passing standard and you do not pass. (Not one question but one section). You can read more in the FAQ section on the NCSBN website. More than one individual that did not pass has reported that met standards in all areas but did not meet passing standard in one area and failed the test. I'll see if I can find the link.
Per NCSBN
"To pass the NCLEX® examination, a candidate must perform ABOVE the passing standard. Candidates fail if they only meet the passing standard or are below it. "
Thanks. Back to the drawing board I go. So frustrating.
Have you taken the test yet? If not have you done a self-assessment? Kaplan has one free online if you sign up...
See if you can figure out if your issue is content (basic material ) or test taking strategies /question decoding. That will help you in the right direction for success.
Thanks. I have three issues: I have trouble sitting and concentrating for long periods of time, I often do not read the question correctly, and knowledge base. Just seems the information keeps growing the more sources you go to. I am currently reviewing hurst reviews in the morning, and using Kaplan to test on. So far my scores in Kaplan have been 68, 72, 76,70,71,68. I am still getting around the same scores in Kaplan despite studying so many hours. Frustrating. With a 68, I still need to review basic care and comfort, health promotion and maintenance, physiologic adaption, and safety and infection. Not sure if I should go over the content videos again, question walk throughs, or more test questions.
