To give a little credit to the show "ER"

Published

ER might not portray nurses like they should, but I think that they have made a step in the right direction. On the "Dear Abby" episode there was the big complaint that the doctor was fireing nurses left and right, which he had no authority to do.

Yesterday when the nurse took his hand he told her to go up to Nursing Management and pick up her pinkslip up there.

Granted he is still trying to get rid of nursing, but at least the show shows that he does not have the power to fire them and that nursing management exists.

Thats just my 2 cents.

I disagree. While I am a viewer of ER, I am usually horrified at the presentation of the nurses on that show.

Read this from NursingAdvocacy.org

It says whay I believe is or should be the dominant opinion of nurses.

I aggre that ER does a bad job at represending nurses. But one of the biggest complaints that the NursingAdvocacy website had was that Doctors were firing nurses, when its really the nurse managers job. They were crying fire over that one. Now ER has finally admitted that ther is such a thing as a Nurse Manager, and that the DR can not fire nurses, only the manager can.

We can beat ER to death until they change the whole show, or we can sit back and celebrate the little victory we have gained.

If you wanna wait to celebrate until the show fixes everything, I think you will wait for a long long time.

I personally am sick of Abby's disfunctional Family.

They have dropped many of the nurses from the program. Since Halle lost weight, she has also lost lines and scenes, what's up with that?

The big tease is someone is gonna die this week, wanna place any bets?

I do like the new spunky ER nurse who takes no crap from anyone, now that is more like R/L. I met my husband when I worked ER, the usual, a Police officer who brought someone in.

that was 21 years ago.

I love the show ER!!! Sure it doesn't portray a "real" ER situation, but come on, it's just a show!!!!!! I still love it anyway, complete with Abby and her dysfunctional family: chuckle

I am with you, emm. I love watching the show just for what it is ~ a show. I also really like the spunky new nurse also ~ she seems much more realistic. I predict next week (ummmm.........)

I really don't know who will die ~ maybe Chen or if life is good it will be Romano !!!

Do you realize how hard he has to work on being a terrible man.

I have always loved when Romano showed his humanity behing everyone's back. He could never say no to Lucy Knight. When Peter had his back turned, Romano used to use sign language with Peter's son, and Peter never knew.

Romano fished out Elizabeth's wedding ring from a scrub sink.

Romano drove Carrie Nuts but held her private information Private.

I could go on and on. But his malfunctioning artificial hand grabbing every woman's ass was funny

I am a Forensic Nurse Specialist, I am an agent of the Medical Examiner, I pronounce people dead.

I am also SANE, ah thought I could fool you, I am a Sexual Assault Nurse examiner. You do not want to know what I do when a Rape exam is done on someone who was prounounced dead.

Go back to just being light hearted and have fun with the show.

And in many cases Chiefs of Staff can fire people. Then it is up to legal

ER SLAMS REGISTRY NURSE

By L. Ward James RN

On a recent episode of the popular TV show ER Health care interests flexed their considerable muscle to portray registry Nurses in a bad light. This character was portrayed as more interested in her break than in the patients and it was subtly suggested that she was incompetent. This is just another example of how powerful entities can use the media to advance their agendas and influence public opinion. As a former registry nurse, I am offended an intend to make my views known. If you feel as I do please join me. Unfortunately some of the public think if something is on television or in print it must be so.
