TNecampus MSN Program

Hey guys!

Would anyone have any information regarding the Nursing education practicum (NURS 5209)? I was told it was 240 required clinical hours and I'm trying to figure out how I would be able to get all those hours in since I am a full-time instructor. Taking off that many hours would be almost impossible. Are there projects allowed to substitute of in-person clinical hours? Thanks

I took the ROPD program, so I think this is the same type program. The program require a 120 hour clinical practicum and 240 hour teaching practicum. I worked full time, but my employer was open until 8pm. I could go to my practicum very early then go to work in the evening. My preceptor did allow me to log hours preparing lecture, grading, and the school had weekend lab hours I could get some time with students on skill practice. It is so difficult to work and get hours, but possible. Do you have summers off? If so maybe you could find a summer program. I know one university near me has an evening program I did look into that but could not get a preceptor agreement. Best wishes, this was almost a barrier to not finishing for me.

Thank you so much for responding! I teach in a year long PN program. I was hoping I would be able to earn hours another way. I believe my preceptor only works day time hours. I'm sure it will all work out. Thanks again!

My school's MSNed program was apart of TNecampus as well. I finished in December 2018. I made the choice to only work PRN for the year I had to complete the hours, offering me the flexibility.

How are things working out for you?

I finished the class in December and it worked out. I just had to take off work a lot to get the hours in, which was very difficult. Thankfully, my coworkers stepped in to cover. I will be finished with school in May!!?

No I'm going to keep my same position as a PN instructor for now. I really do love it. I may eventually go to a community college setting. I do plan to eventually obtain a position making more money.

Thank you! I am taking scholarly synthesis next. I assume that's where I write the big paper. I'm a little nervous about that because I hate writing papers, lol. But, I've come this far and I'll suck it up and do it! ?

You're welcome!

I went to UofM and my scholarly synthesis professor was at UofM as well. She and I had some issues in the beginning with communication, which caused frustration on my end. We worked it out. My paper was about 35p and I feel that I was supported throughout the process. It wasn't as bad as I thought bc I got to write about something that I was passionate about. I'm sure you will do the same. Last few months...you got this!?
