  1. @OncelWas Thank you for your suggestions. I'm not sure if I'm really one that would like going into people's homes. ?
  2. Thank you for responding. I'll definitely look into that.
  3. Hello all! I have been an nurse for over 20 yrs. I did bedside for about 10 years and currently have been teaching in nursing program for over 10 yrs. I am desiring to partake in another facet of nursing. I really think I want to be a nurse navigator. I would even be interested in starting with care management. I job shadowed both and liked them very much. I have a msn and my CNE. I really want to be engaged with patients and families. Any advice on these positions or any other lane in nursing that might fit me is welcomed. Thanks!
  4. Late to this post, but I hope you reported this. It is absolutely unprofessional. The fact that the instructor discussed you to another student is ridiculous. She does not need to be an instructor. As a nursing instructor, I find this very embarrassing. I am so sorry that you experienced this. I would love to know a follow-up with this if you reported it.
  5. Thank you! I am taking scholarly synthesis next. I assume that's where I write the big paper. I'm a little nervous about that because I hate writing papers, lol. But, I've come this far and I'll suck it up and do it! ?
  6. No I'm going to keep my same position as a PN instructor for now. I really do love it. I may eventually go to a community college setting. I do plan to eventually obtain a position making more money.
  7. I finished the class in December and it worked out. I just had to take off work a lot to get the hours in, which was very difficult. Thankfully, my coworkers stepped in to cover. I will be finished with school in May!!?
  8. Thank you so much for responding! I teach in a year long PN program. I was hoping I would be able to earn hours another way. I believe my preceptor only works day time hours. I'm sure it will all work out. Thanks again!
  9. I'm sorry this happened to you. I am puzzled as to when you asked about "mistakes" you made and were not given an answer. I don't understand that and I think you should have went to your Human Resources department. If I'm being written up, I deserve to know what facts the reprimand is based on. Something stinks and I wouldn't let it go......
  10. Hey guys! Would anyone have any information regarding the Nursing education practicum (NURS 5209)? I was told it was 240 required clinical hours and I'm trying to figure out how I would be able to get all those hours in since I am a full-time instructor. Taking off that many hours would be almost impossible. Are there projects allowed to substitute of in-person clinical hours? Thanks
  11. I have been teaching in an LPN program for the past seven years and absolutely love it. I teach classroom and clinicals. One thing I suggest since they aren't at med pass yet is to focus on physical assessment, start correlating meds with dz process, communication (some days I have everyone give me a shift report in post conference). I'm not sure how many students you have in your clinical group, but I try to have a max of 6 students actually on floor with me at a time. The others are outposted within facility and/or other facilities to shadow. You definitely have to be patient and you will see the needs of your students and that will help you do what needs to be done. It's a hard job, but I have learned so much from my students and a lot of about myself. I have a lot of things that I have just come up with to incorporate learning and a little fun. Good luck and welcome aboard!!
