TNCC tips

The TNCC class I took was very non threatening, and they make it quite easy to take and do well. I think the whole thing boils down to order. They are teaching you to think in order of priorities, so study with that in mind. Go from basic to difficult, i.e. start with the ABC's (airway, breathing, circulation), then move on. If you don't have the ABC's, nothing else matters. Then look to the head to toe assessment. If you follow their directions, you can't go wrong. Don't get bogged down in "major trauma" and worry about the whole thing, just break it down into little pieces and you will have the idea of what they are looking for. When you study, do it in the order they give you in the book. Don't skip around, they want order, order, order. That is the main focus of the class. If you do something in the same way everytime, you are less likely to leave something out. Good habits are what they are trying to teach.

dixielee is right. i didn't really study a whole lot for mine. i took it to work with an EMS company on transports and im a ICU rn that had no problems, if that tells you anything. test was a no-brainer and the dummy assessment was easy. just go a-g i belive and you will have no problems.

Read the book. Prepare. Relax.

I agree with dixielee comments. They like order and structure. Stay focused and have fun.

I practiced on my daughter and husband and talked out loud. One would tell me if I missed something.

Only if the instructors make it so. I add CT scans and x-rays and real trauma pics to my presentations and have the students guess what is wrong.

Gets them talking and thinking.
