UGHHHH! I just have to vent somewhere. I started out as a new grad in the ER in June of 2007, and ever since I began working I've been sick every time I have a decent chunk of time off!! It's like my body knows I have 5 days off, and I'm sick for the whole 5 days! I've had numerous colds, strep throat, several stomach viruses, and now I feel like I may have the flu (nasty productive cough, severe congestion, fever >101.3, muscle aches and fatigue). I was planning on going snowboarding for my long weekend (yesterday through Sunday), but I'm cooped up inside because I feel miserable. I'm so tired of wasting my days off being sick, then getting well just in time to go back to work!
Ok, thanks for giving me a place to vent :)
Remember all that advice your mother used to give you - eat right, get plenty of sleep, drink lots of water. May be true that staying healthy promotes your immune system... You are probably going through the same acclimation you did when you started school or daycare. THis will pass as your body adjusts, but you will have to find a way to keep your immune system in top shape....
I am so tired of being sick. I have been out of school for three years and I am still sick at least once a month. The floor I work on is a very heavy med/surg floor and it is chroniclly short staffed...............missed breaks, poor eating habits, lack of sleep, lack of senior staff for support..................Its difficult to keep your immunity and energy up. However, I love my job
