Tips on passing anatomy & physiology

Published

I need some tips on how to pass anatomy and physiology. I can't seem to understand the material being covered. Also, can someone please give me tips on how to remember Patient's Bill of Rights?? I can't seem to remember any of those because there are a lot and they come with descriptions! LOL! Anyways, I am in my third week of nursing school and so far it is going really well. My first foundations of nursing and A & P tests are next Monday and Tuesday. I need to get off this website and get back to studying. :nurse:

I remember things by creating acronyms. For example. MCCCFlerg. MCCCflerg is the man that makes up a cell. Mitochondria...Cytoplasm..Centriolles...Cillia..... Flagella..Lysosomes..Endoplasmic...Ribosomes..Golgi Apperatus

That method works for me. Also, the more shocking or gross you can make a rhyme up to remember things the easier it is to remember. That was one of my jobs with my group of buddies at school. Creating disgusting, perverse, racist, you name it. We did everythiong because we knew the more wrong it was..the more we would remember.

I post notes to myself. cranial nerves were on the refrigerator. bones of the hand on the bathroom mirror...etc. and I record all lectures or notes to myself, to listen to in the car or while walking or waiting...

good luck!

both of these require memorization. there are many different memorization techniques. you just have to experiment with the different ones until you find one, or several, that work best for you:

The above suggestions have also worked for me. I also recorded my lectures. There is alot of info to memorize in a short period of time. I would listen to my recordings on the way to and from school. Also, on the morning of an exam I would listen and and write notes before I left for school. That extra 45 minutes before school really boosted my tests scores.

This also worked really well when endocrine came along. I felt like I really learned the info instead of just memorizing it.

Good luck on your upcoming exams.

Hey Just wanted to spread the word on my success with anatomy. My medical school friend turned me onto this great book learning the skull and cranial nerves. "The Clinical Skull Manual" written by Jonathan Garlick. You can find it on amazon or I found it cheaper on authorhouse.com..Good Luck.

I did it by flashcards. Made tons of them, and kept them in my purse. Anytime I had even a second I would grab them and study.

Do your own notes, that s how i learned. make up your won notes from notes that are given and the bold or highlighted areas in book. Mosby makes a good cd for A&P and a good book. Alot of books have additional learning activities that are based from there websites, usually you are given a password to access these sites. Dont stress out about A&P, becuz alot of this stuff u have more practice with in Med-Surg, that class goes into each system. Plus alot of books have wookbooks with extra practice in them. Get them its great practice. hope it helps
