Tips for a new Remote Triage Nurse?

Published

I just accepted a part time position doing remote triage for CareXM. I've seen a lot of negatives about triage and how stressful it can be and get burnt out easily. I'm hoping since I'll only be part time, 5 hours in the evening 4 days a week that it will be less of a chance of burnout? Any tips to help a new triage nurse? Any success stories of people who love doing triage? I really need this job to work out, it would save me so many hours of commuting!

This is something I am very interested in. How is it working out for you?

I haven't started yet, and no responses so far on my question ?

Well I don't work triage (not since the ER, anyway), but I have been working from home since 2019. My tips are: have a separate workspace. Leave that workspace when you are done with work and don't return to it until it's time to work again. (I realize this is dependent on the size of your home.) Take your breaks - and get away from the computer during them. Set alarms to remind yourself to stand and stretch. If you can get a sit-to-stand desk, even better. Set boundaries with friends and family to maintain your workspace/time integrity. Just because you are home doesn't mean you aren't working! I also make it a habit to shower daily and get dressed in clean clothes. I know that sounds obvious, but people tend to let things slide. ? I do sometimes just put on fresh jammies after I shower as my work clothing, but hey! LOL.
