hi i suffer from anxiety but not all the time. stress is a trigger. when i relax, i absorb more. any tips because im goin on a training, im kinda nervous and new. Please give me tips on how to be confident and what should be the attitude of a new nurse so she can ovecome and survive?

I don't want to start anything here and I have suffered from crippling anxiety at times related to PTSD from childhood trauma. I have never considered my anxiety to be a disability. It's just something I deal with. I am also and addict and alcoholic in recovery over 10 years but have never seen this as a disability that needed accommodation from others. So my advice to you when dealing with anxiety is start your day especially those when you will be working with some stretching and diaphragmatic breathing. Also if you find your self anxious at the new job and can step away for a moment step back and breath I refuse to let my anxiety define who I am. I find that taking positive action in uncertain situations is the best remedy for anxiety.

Hi. Anytime I go in to some new training, I always let the instructor know that I prefer to be taught as though I don't know anything about the topic. This way, what I don't know I will be sure to learn and what I do know will be reinforced. This reduces any anxiety I might have about learning something that I don't usually do or maybe only learned a little about in nursing school. Hope this helps.Sherri64
