I'm having a hell of a time finding good research articles to attach to my care plans. They have to be nursing intervention based and fit my patient (this week: adult in his 30's with peumonia, my dx is impaired gas exchange). I spent 3 hours searching the other night with no luck. If anyone has any tips on finding intervention articles I'd really appreciate it!

I googled up several articles on prevention of venilator associated pneumonia. I don't know if there's enough for your paper, but it's certainly worth checking out. (Check the referred articles cited at the end if you can't get anything from the main one.) My search terms were "evidence based nursing pneumonia."

I also got a lot of hits using "evidence based nursing community acquired pneumonia."

Best wishes on your paper.

Have you tried searching in google scholar? It only accesses peer-reviewed articles, so the hits are more relevant/useable. Putting "pneumonia", "nursing" and "interventions" I got a couple of articles that might be useful; putting in "impaired gas exchange" instead of "pneumonia" brought up a whole lot of NANDA stuff rather than clinically useful articels.

Good luck :)

the nursing diagnosis handbook: a guide to planning care, 7th edition, by betty j. ackley and gail b. ladwig which i think is now in its 8th edition has lists of evidenced based articles for most of its nursing interventions as well as a bibliography list for each of the nursing diagnoses. this is not the only nursing diagnosis book that does this, but the only one i can name. many of the interventions are referenced on its online diagnosis pages. see impaired gas exchange.
