Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA

I am interested to hear anyones experience in endorsing their license into CA. I used the online endorsement as well as the livescan fingerprinting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Sent everything in beginning of June. 3 1/2 months later I get a letter saying fingerprints wont work. So sent the finger prints in again two weeks ago. On my 17th week now and still waiting... I had fingerprints done at the same time by the same person on the same type of cards, same ink ect for Washington State, Alaska, and Arizona and all of those were accepted. Doesn't make sense at all. Just want this to end. No other state is like this. I don't understand why live scan cant be used in another state. Oregon uses livescan no matter what state you are in.

Hello, I am currently a student in a BSN program in South Dakota. I was curious if any of you could recommend taking the NCLEX in California, or taking it in South Dakota and trying to transfer to California? I don't know which would be quicker. Another option, I could take NCLEX in Arizona (compact state) and then work while waiting to transfer to California! I hope they figure this all out, so ridiculous!

me too, my school sent them additional requirements and received aug 19. i called my analyst sept 19 he said still working on application for july.. so basically just wait.. i initially applied may..

I'll try my best to answer your question!

So, you can take the NCLEX in any state for any state (i.e. you can physically take the exam in South Dakota for licensure in CA). You have to apply for licensure by examination for they state you want a license in–make sure your school sends them your name for the candidate list asap your last semester in school.

That being said, I don't suggest moving to CA without a firm job offer. The market is saturated with new grads. Your best bet is a residency, start applying asap. This is a useful resource: nurseresidencies.com

When do you graduate? If you decide to apply for licensure by exam in CA, submit your application at least 2 months before your graduation date, and have your transcripts rushed as soon as your degree is posted. I graduated from a CA school this past May and some of my classmates waited months for their ATT, then weeks after that to find out if they passed. Many of them had to contact their local assemblymen and senators to get anywhere. The California board is literally the worst. Don't expect anything to change soon.

If you want a nursing license as fast as possible in general, apply for licensure in any state but CA. After I graduated I tested for licensure in Oregon and received my license the day after I NCLEXed. My classmates that stayed in CA weren't licensed for weeks after I was, even those who tested before me.

I think applying to residencies anywhere and everywhere you don't mind living before you graduate is the best way to go, then apply for licensure by examination in the state where you are hired.

If you are dead set on CA, apply to test for CA. Endorsement takes much longer than licensure by exam.

Guys! What does it mean when they say they will put you in "call log?" i spoke to a lady from the board early this morning telling me my passport photo and my home nursing board verification was not uploaded yet. i told her the picture was taped along with my paper application and I used Nursys for my license verification, she then told me that i'd be place in a call log.

I just checked processing times and they are up to the middle of August, not sure why this is so difficult for them. I'm just grateful for this thread so we can update each other and commiserate as needed. My application was received by them officially on 7/22, I'm well past my processing date and they claim "missing verification" :cautious:

Philippines too. When did you apply for your endorsement? Did you get any reply from the board? Did they require you anything yet? Btw, I applied on July 11.

I applied Aug 8 and they cashed my check Aug 25. So far i have not received any notice from the board yet. But when i called them early this morning, a certain lady i spoke with told me my photo and license verification from NY was not uploaded yet so i told her that i submitted my photo together with my application so how come its missing or not uploaded yet. And i told her i used Nursys for my License verification. She then told me she'll put me in a call log and i dont know what that means..

Oh I dont know what that means either. But you can check your status on their website. Just sign up breeze account.
