Hi all! Ok I am married and have 2 young children. I am getting ready to start a part time job and my second semester of pre-req's. Are there any other moms who are working and going to school and how do you make time for everything?

Thanks:)

Kelly

I took 15 units my second semester and worked part time. Still managed to get a 4.0. Then I worked part time and took a 4 week, 4 hr/day Bio 1 class that summer. Still got high score in the class! :saint:

I think that if it is something you want to do, you will just do it. And it kind of works itself out!!

Good luck!

How old are your kids, Kelly?

I have confidence that you can do it!

I'm the mom of two boys - 5 yrs and 18 mos. I work full-time (normally around 40 hours a week, sometimes more) and am taking 13 hours this semester.. . class begins today. :)

I'd have a LOT more time to study if my little one didn't want to nurse every time I sat down! LOL

The big thing around here is using your time wisely. There's not much free time left to relax, because there's also chores to be done, games to play with the kids, baths to give, meals to cook, homework to do, or a job to go to. Whew!

Just try and be as organized and dedicated as possible, and somehow you'll find time! Sorry I don't have any more "concrete" tips!

Good luck!

I work 2 jobs, and will start the 25th with full time school. I have no kids. I'm stressed out enough by myself on my own, how the moms do it without going nuts i have no idea. :D

No kids here, god bless all you ladies out there. The only way I have found adequate time is to go to the library right after class and write everything and I mean everything in a planner and follow it to a T, even study time. Maybe if you tell hubby your class is an hour longer than it actually is, then you can get a good hour of study time at the library. An hour in the library is like two hours at home. It's just a little white lie, and it's only an hour he he.

Manna... My kids are 4 and 2. Thanks guys for all the support. I am just really worried about how I will do this semester with classes that are harder and a job. I think I like that idea of telling hubby class is an hour longer so I can go to the library:D Thanks again!

I like the idea of "listen, honey, i really could use an hour at the library for some quiet study time. I hope you understand."

In answer to your question of how to do it, get an organizer with times in it. Let hubby have a "kid time" where he takes total care of children while you study every day. Note that these times are adaptable, Pencil in dinnertime etc along with other activities that are required then take it from there. Seeing it in writing sometimes helps to organize better than keeping it in your head. Especially with being a student.

We made a schedule, kids ball games, drama club, color guard, chores, violin & homework.( I have 4 kids and a Hubby) We scheduled an hour before or after classes for me to study at school,( taking 19 Cr. hours) and then I plan on taking books everywhere with me. I think I need a laptop to help with my notes. I can take that along better than my desktop. :-) I also work every weekend at a local hospital. We will be very busy for a while, but I think we will all benifit from it.
