Time Management with Erin Condren??

Yes all, it is true!! For someone who's dedication to planners has never made it past the 1st month, I broke down and got a Life Planner. And I'm excited!!

I know between now and the start of nursing school I need to develop a habit of organizing. I have to work on managing my time and finances. This seems to be the key advice in all topics for the new nursing students, such as myself.

How do you use your planner/organizer during nursing school??

Do you go all out with colors and stickers to make it funner or keep it simple the better??

Do you feel your planner has helped you during nursing school or just became something else on the "to do" list??

never had a planner. just a punch of mental notes. :geek:

Lol... See, as of now, I write on little notepad paper to just budget. Then I fold it up and place it in my car or purse... A week or two later, I'm cleaning out the car and purse. Lol!!

I'm glad that system works for you. :)

I bought one before nursing school started and I never use it. My professors print us out a calendar of everything we need to know-what will be covered that day, what is due when, test & quiz days, clinical days, etc. So I just use those calendars to plan my day.

It is a beautiful planner though...maybe I will need it next semester, since I'm not sure if all my professors will be giving us calendars.

Oh cool!! So do you check off or cross out on the calendars they provide?? And good thing you have one already on hand just in case your other professors do not provide you with a calendar.

But when you did start on it, was all decorative and elaborate or simple and etiquette??

For me, I try my best to understand my type of study habits. I'm usually 24/7 on my computer. I tried using notebooks, and book planners, but could never get a hang of using paper and pen! As a result, I got all my calendars, notes, and planners "computerized." For my notes, I use this MAC app called Evernote. It's free and it helps divide my notes in a nice organized manner. It also comes with a recorder, which is a nice bonus. Next, I use the MAC calendar. Basically, I just look at all my classes' syllabus, and then I plug in, all my needed dates. What I love about it, is that it, has reminders on the computer. So whenever something is dued, a reminder will pop up on my computer! Lastly, I have another "Notebook" app. It's a great way for me to stay organized. It's pretty much a computerized scratchbook. It's filled with lots of "By Monday do this" or "Don't forget to do this" or "Finish this by the end of month" little reminders to myself! :D The best part, however, is that it's very compact. Instead of bringing like 10 notebooks, I just bring one computer :)

Ohhh man!! I didn't think about that one. I still hace to invest in a laptop. Lol. I know surely I'll have plenty of papers to type up, so that would make sense...

Lmao!! Why didn't I start this thread before I purchased anything?? Luckily though, if I write it myself, I'm less likely to forget it still... But I did read somewhere when you go into nursing school, you incorporate a bunch of learning styles.

Well, thanks for letting me know your system. I'm glad it works for you too!! :)

No, I am not an artsy person. So I just have it as plain as the way it came. But I do like how some people use the "washy" tape (I have no idea if that is how you spell or say it) and stickers.

I look at it this way, if decorating it motivates you to use it, then decorate away!;) Have fun with it!

With the calendars they provide I just cross off as I go along. Plus there is some room to fit in other stuff like study group, etc. So that works for now...who knows what next semester will be like.
