I have a question about Time and half.How It is calculated?Ideally It should be paid any hours worked after 40 hours.Suppose If schedule is of 45 hours,Will it be paid over 45 hours worked?

Read your contract. It all depends on that. Generally OT is paid after 40 hrs. However, every contract is different.

It always starts after 40 hours.I have seen many people working 60 hours just to get more bucks.

It doesn't always start after 40 hours. It depends on the state, facility, union rules, and your contract. Where I work per diem it starts after 8 hours and goes to double time after 12 hours. I have also had it written into my contract for anything after 8 hours. I have also had my contract just be a flat rate for a the shift whether it be a an 8, 12, 24 or even a 72 hour shift. It is variable.

Double time for per diem seems to be a California/Kaiser thing so it isn't that rare. There are lots of variation all over the country.

OT could be after 80 hours/2 weeks. As an RN that was true at a couple of places I worked ICU because of 12 hour shifts.

Now I am salary which means no OT. If it's not busy I might leave early, and if it's very busy then I might work more than 40 hours. I would have a hard time going to hourly now-I feel like more of a professional.

Some do get time and a half or double time, but not many. Most practices you do get paid, but it is straight time for every hour worked. I can only speak to California, but with most of our salaries starting at around $100/hr and going up, there is just not going to be double time too often. There is no such thing as time and a half or double time in all of Northern CA Kaiser, except kind of on the actually holidays, you will get paid for the holiday, so if you are working it, you are getting paid twice, but that is different than double time. Many of the UC system CRNAs are straight salary, based on 40 hours. They get paid regardless of census, or going home early, or power outage, or anything. You get paid. It is my understanding that it is very, very rare for them to ever work more than 40 hours in a week.

I work per diem at Northern CA Kaiser and as per diem I get paid 1.5x after 8 hours and 2x after 12 hours anytime I work greater than 8 hours. I don't get extra as per diem employee for working holidays or nights though. The full time or part-time Kaiser CRNAs don't get paid overtime this way though.

Sorry. You are correct. I was assuming we were talking about full time people, since the OP was asking about 40 hours etc. But yes, per diem do get 1.5 as they are not exempt employees and state law demands it. It sucks because they also have to use the phone to punch in and out. And it has been my distinct impression they bend over backwards to avoid ever having to have a PD work extra, though sometimes needs trump the budget.

I am curious about Gasworks.In job postings sometimes they post salaries and in time and half section,It is YES.Does it mean that the posted salary is BASE plus OT or do they already calculate everything themselves?
