I urge everyone to take a good hard look at what Tim Hudak is proposing aand remember it on election day. He has said that Nurses will not be cut, but surely there will not be increases in nursing staff. He has also said that he plans to cut nurses pensions in Ontario. You can read it on his own website under the document "Sustainable Pensions"
He plans to destroy your career and livelihood with drastic cuts that will hurt patients, make your job harder, for less money, with less benefits and a smaller pension.
More importantly we all have to remember that all that counts is who actually goes out to VOTE on election day. Make sure you VOTE. Also remember there are lots of young people, maybe a child of yours, a niece or a nephew who doesn't normally vote. Encourage these people to stop this madman by educating them.
You do not grow an economy by cutting pay for the middle class and then giving 30% tax breaks to corporations with no strings attached.
I wish us all luck.
Choose your vote based on your riding.
If the Liberals won last time, vote Liberal
If the NDP won last time, vote NDP
If the PCs won last time, Vote for whoever came closest to beating them the last time around.
We cannot afford to split votes and support one party like a blanket. We can worry about getting along with the governing party after the election. For now...stop Hudak at all costs.
Should all be aware that Tim Hudak the leader of the PC Party has said that if elected, he will be cutting Nurses Pensions and that the promises that have been made to existing nurses cannot be kept.

I hope all you nurses in Ontario are able to stir up your friends and family. You REALLY don't want Tim Hudak having ANY control over your futures. He's Alison Redford's evil twin. The main difference is that he's being up front about what he has planned for the public service where she conned enough public servants in Alberta into believing she was an ally so they'd vote for her... then went for the throat. Bills 45 and 46 last fall, followed by Bills 9 and 10 this spring revealed her true colours. Lots of money for party faithful, slash and burn everybody else. Alberta Health Services pays more for executive salaries, percs and severance than they do for direct patient care. Don't let Ontario go down that road!

I know the Liberal candidate in my district is promising more health care worker jobs.
Thanks for the responses so far. Janfrn I appreciate the feedback from Alberta.
Do you know of any other places to spread the word about this creep? We have 1 month left and if he is running our province it will be an even worse repeat of what Mike Harris did in the early 2000s.
Post to the ONA, CNO, RNAO and RPNAO Facebook pages. The union will be okay with just about any angle you choose to take. For the regulatory groups, put a patient safety and nursing autonomy spin on it. Talk up the job losses that have already occurred, how being spread so thinly has jeopardized patient safety and has had a negative impact on outcomes, length-of-stay and morbidity. Relate that to the roles and responsibilities that are being neglected due to lack of resources. Mention that professionalism is at risk when nurses don't have time or resources to perform to the best of their abilities. Don't talk about financial impact on the nurses themselves, because they don't like to hear anything about that. Selfish nurses... wanting to be paid appropriately and to have a reasonable standard of living in retirement. But make the point somehow that people who feel valued and respected have a much easier time maintaining their professionalism.

Thank you for posting this. I have never liked Tim Hudak, he's too extreme for my liking. I really worry about what's going to happen to our education and health care system if he is elected.

I don't see healthcare getting better anytime soon, but to further cut well its only making it worse. I don't like the PCs either, but I think either way we are all hurting from this poor economy and slashing of RNs. I only hope things will get better soon but we will see.

He probably will do it if it gets elected. He has no idea what nursing is like and how difficult the job already is. He also doesn't care because he has all he needs and that's what matters to him. I'd hate to judge, but those who vote for him are very ignorant and or just don't care about health care.
