Tidewater Community College Spring 2017

Published

Hey everyone! I'm turning in my application this July for the spring 2017 start! I'm so excited! However I will have one class in progress (microbiology) and was wondering if anyone knows if this will hurt my chances of getting accepted. I'm going to take my HESI mid June so I don't have that score yet! Any help or advice is appreciated!

Congrats!!! I applied too for night and weekends!! Fingers crossed

Thank you! Good luck to you too. Fingers crossed we will be classmates soon.

I need nights and weekends because I'm still on active duty. I can't imagine having to wait a whole year to apply again.

Hi! I am turning my application package in tomorrow! I have taken all my co-requisites. ENG 111 & 112, PSY 201 and BIO 150 I earned B's. In BIO 141 & 142, PSY 235, PHI 226 and SDV 101 I received all A's. My only downfall is the HESI A2, I took it yesterday. I received a 68% on it. I have never been so disappointed in a grade in my life. I never took regular chemistry or biology, just jumped right into A & P and Micro. So I did terrible in those 2 sections which brought my grade down tremendously. Maybe they will look into account that I received 2 A's and a B in my Sciences at TCC.

Unfortunately High school chemistry, a college level chemistry or BIO 150 must be completed (within 6 years) or they won't even look at your package. It will be considered incomplete. How long ago did you take Chemistry in HS if you did?

I submitted my application Monday with hopes of being accepted into the evening and weekend cohort (Spring 2017). I graduated from UVA in 2011 with a BA in Psychology; so not many science or math courses. I just completed Micro and Statistics with an A this summer and am taking A&P 1 and PHI 220 this Fall. I scored a 90 on the HESI. Even though all of my prerequisites (besides the A&Ps) are finished, I'm starting to think I should have completed A&P 2 before applying. Do you think it's possible to complete this class while taking the entry-Nursing courses??? That's if I even stand a chance at being admitted :/

The HESI was sooooo exhausting! Thank God it's over!!!

I think you only need a 45 on the exam to qualify (seems sketchy but that's what I read on this site); looks like you have a great chance, especially with your grades in all of the prereqs. I wish I applied next Spring, giving me a chance to finish A&P 142. Ever hear of anyone getting accepted without the A&Ps done??

Good job on the Hesi!! I thought I heard that they look for two sciences to be completed? I could be wrong though--good luck---

Thanks for the heads up!

Today is the last day to turn in applications and then the 2 month wait begins! Good luck everyone!

Thank you! You too. I'm on my way to turn mine in now.

These 2 months are going to kill me!!!

No I singled.

Thank you!

Hi Everyone,

I am also joining in the wait! I have all prerequisites complete but not as many corequisites complete as most of you. I followed up with the office before applying and they encouraged me to apply anyways but I am trying to prepare myself for the worst and hope for the best. I have 2 classes left for my Post Masters in Education 3.8 GPA, I have a Masters in Counseling 3.7 GPA, and Bachelors in Psychology 3.2 GPA (I wasn't as focused back then lol). The only science I completed was micro this past spring with an A. I am taking A&P 1 this fall. As for the HESI, my average score was 93.4 so I'm hoping that helps. I applied to all cohorts. Nursing was always my dream but when I went to school for undergrad I wasn't focused and switched my major because I didn't want to take science courses. 10 years later I'm ready :)
